I really have seen the devil...

I got shot and guess who came?
Tried to stop the bleeding,
Took out the bullet and stitched the wound;

He watched me heal for months and when I'd healed,
He brought out a pocket knife,
Tore the same stitches he'd sewn,
Stuck the knife deep down the wound,
Twisting and turning till I started to bleed.

Then he walked away, leaving me soaked in my own blood and pain Again.

'This ain't the devil...' Momma said,

'He's a demon! ... what could be more wicked?'

He feeds on the pain of his prey,
Gurgling his mouth with their tears.
Cheating, manipulating and lying; his main tactics.

He walks around in human form and clothing,
Charming us with his outward appearance but within he's EMPTY,
No soul, No heart,
No emotions, No compassion,
No sympathy,
He rocks his chair to the tune of your screams
And hums along as you wail in pain.

But how was I to know?
He gave me a taste of the love and affection I'd lost when that bullet hit.

How was I to know it wasn't gonna last forever?
I was blinded by the way he nursed me to health.

How could I have known, he was gonna take it all back just for fun.
As I laid there in my own blood, I wondered and pondered,
What could I have done wrong to deserve the devil?

I'd brought this upon myself,
So blinded by his outward appearance and care giving
I didn't bother to look inward.

But then again what do you expect from a demon with no soul.....
That prowls, seeking innocents to devour....
