Coelogyne asperata typically grows in humid, shady areas of lowland and montane forests, often on trees or rocks. It has long, slender pseudobulbs and leaves that are up to 25 cm long and 4 cm wide. The inflorescence is erect and can reach up to 70 cm long, bearing up to 50 flowers that are about 2 cm in diameter. The flowers are white or cream-colored with a yellow or brownish lip, and have a pleasant, spicy fragrance.

Coelogyne asperata is popular among orchid enthusiasts for its attractive flowers and ease of cultivation. It prefers bright, indirect light and high humidity, and should be watered regularly but not overwatered. It can be grown in a pot with a well-draining potting mix or mounted on a piece of bark or other material. With proper care, Coelogyne asperata can bloom multiple times a year and bring a touch of tropical beauty to any indoor or outdoor space.
