Rencong is a traditional weapon of the Acehnese people. Rencong has existed since the heyday of the Samudera Pasai Kingdom.

Rencong is often worn by royal nobles by putting it on the left side of the waist.

Ordinary people are also allowed to have rencong. It's just that rencong used ordinary people and nobles are different. Rencong used common people handles made of wood, while the nobility is made of elephant ivory and some are gold plated.
