In crypto we trust

Back in 2014 I finally decided to have a look into what all the fuss about Bitcoin was. It didn't take long after I first looked into it that I invested some time and money building a gpu mining pc and then bought an asic miner. The more time I invested in crypto, the more I fell in love with blockchain technology and I believed it would change the online world. I felt excited about the future. The last time I felt that way about something new was when I first heard about the internet.

Fast forward to today, November 2018. I have a nice little pile of different coins and I have also had the fun of cashing some out. I have cashed out my initial investment ($5k aud) twice over and still have the best part of a years wages in investment. And yes like too many I had to cash some in at the wrong time and lost out on quite a bit. But I'm in it for the long game as they say and am holding some coins until they pay my mortgage off and hopefully more. Also after discovering masternodes at the beginning of the year I get around$300 aud a week to reinvest or spend. A nice little earner as they say.

But why am I, like so many others, thinking moon, lambo, I am going to get rich? Because in the 4 years I have been in this thing the technology has proved that it works. Yes there are obstacles and short falls but overwhelmingly it works.

I can buy and sell using a blockchain. And that is the bottom line really. To make some money out of this I dont have to be the clever clogs who comes up with the most insighfull way to use crypto, at the beginning of the internet no one could have imagined Google, Amazon and Facebook. People stood around and looked at the internet knowing that it was amazing and that somehow it would change our lives. It did and still is. Those who believed then put money in and made much more back. Blockchain technology is a game changer.

Blockchains are the internet of money.

Right now when I mention blockchain and crypto to others outside of the community, in other words in real life, I get lots of blank stares or scepticism. I have learned to limit my gushing over crypto because right now most simply do not get it.

I have moved on from simply mining and buying coins. These days I have moved towards buying crypto assets. Which for me is buying spaceships and other such gaming goods. I can see a future where my kids might be able to game for a living. Hopefully their dear old dad has had the forsight to buy into the right/popular games and who knows I may end up leaving some spaceships in my will.

All I know for certain is that the world of crypto is evolving and growing in massive jumps. And I am happy to be here now seeing how this all plays out. There are always way out predictions in this space so I will add mine to the fray.

The first area to lead to mainstream adoption of crypto will be in gaming. It will also help to reinvent journalism, or getting paid for it.

I have heard it said that old age is your second childhood. So although mine will be a good 20+ years away I am hoping for one filled with gaming that also pays the rent. Sounds like a good way to spend my retirement.
