The day the music exploded

“You don’t know how important someone is to you as an artistic influence until suddenly they’re gone.”

Today the world lost a legend. Chris Cornell was arguably the best rock vocalist there has ever been, and an inspiration to millions around the world. From Soundgarden to Temple Of The Dog to Audioslave, and finally his solo projects, Chris’s musical work inspired many like me to take up music and just give it everything they’ve got.

He taught us that music has no boundary, that the only important thing was to be yourself in every sense of the word. To be authentic and not give a damn about what anybody else thinks. To believe in your music and express your values to the fullest using it. And most importantly, to rock the fuck out.

And although today seems incredibly hard to get through, I’m happy in the knowledge that he lived a life worth living and he died doing what he loved doing best. His legacy will be carried on by his incredibly body of work and in the works of the countless musicians he has inspired, including me. A final farewell to you Chris. So long and thanks for all the music!
