Damp proofing

Damp proofing in construction is a type of moisture control membrane that is being applied to building walls and floors to prevent moisture from the ground from penetrating the interior parts of the building.
It's essential that every building that is constructed must have this layer, to ensure it's safety to the inhabitants and also it's sustainability.
Damp proofing can be applied in buildings through the following ways;
- Damp Proof Membrane (DPM)
- Damp proof injection
- Damp proof paint
- Damp proof spray etc.
If a building is not properly damp proofed,it can lead to failure of the building,as water from underground finds it way into the floors and walls of the building,thereby affecting the floors and wall finishings, and can also lead to the inconveniences of the inhabitants.
So damp proofing must be considered in every building, to avoid failure of such buildings.
