From Practice To Victory (creative nonfiction).
Yes, I'm passionate about football, and it's almost addictive, going without a game for a week feels like withdrawal, I may fall sick, haha😁. On a fitness note, I'm part of the StayFit team, led by a strong and dynamic woman. We engage in diverse exercises four days a week and even travel to other cities for fitness collaborations, which keeps our routines exciting and challenging.
We recently received a challenge from MetroFlex Gym, a fitness team renowned for their strength and physique. Despite their intimidating presence, we confidently accepted their football challenge. On the scheduled Sunday evening, around 3pm, they arrived at our pitch, ready for the match.
I wasn't scared of them despite their physical appearance, because I've been training hardly all by myself under the rain and sun ever since I got their notice of the football challenge.
My coach said to me, "Allison, these people are really tall and fit, compared to our team, are you sure we'll defeat them"?
I said to her "Coach, football it's not by size, height or physical appearance, it's a game of the mind, we'll defeat them, I promise you".
She was happy as she gave a sigh of relief. As the centre referee blew the whistle at 4 pm, signaling kickoff, a collective sense of excitement filled the air. Both teams, dressed in their respective kits, were ready to face off.
Honestly, it was a tough game as both team defensive line was cemented. In a game of football, there must be a winner, and guess what??? 😁 Stayfit Team emerge victorious as the scoreline was 3 goals to nothing, in favour of my team. I was very happy that Sunday evening as i helped my team score 2 goals, and at last, the Almighty Goliath were defeated by the small David, haha.
You need to see how my coach was happy, because she couldn't believe that our small team with small boys could defeat the Almighty metroflex Gym with tall and athletic men. We celebrated this victory in a grand style, that's the picture you're seeing as my cover/first picture. It's a day that'll be etched in my memory forever.🤗
Indeed, practice makes perfect. My relentless training, rain or shine, paid off, yielding outstanding results for my team.
