Conceptual Framework of Ethics

Ethics is like a puzzle and puzzling as it differs but interconnected and interdependent on one’s perspective, principles, culture, values and practices. Ethics as defined is a set of principles on doing what is right from wrong. Ethics in businesses, varies on its practices and culture from every organization as well to the countries where it operates. There were myths then that uncritically accepted as right nor wrong as it conflict with one’s personal values system against of the business where he is employed. Businesses should also consider its stakeholders that their needs and interest are satisfied as to its over-all performances even on its functional level ethics is applied. As such, theories on ethics of care was campaigned and practiced as well as corporate social responsibility. Corporate social responsibility effect and perceptions still differs as some may argue as to its intentions that would still benefit primarily the business in the community, environmentally and financially. There comes then the corporate governance that aims to direct and control businesses how ethics is applied as the committees chosen on their respective functions implement and evaluate the code of ethics, conflict of interest and ethical dilemma encountered by business and its stakeholders as it operates. Thus, one can’t really say that ethics must be universal nor relative as it has an impact in the operation of the business as the actions and behaviors of the employees reflects of that of the culture and value of the company where he works; globally, ethics oblige businesses as trusted and transparent of how the business operates that is humane, fair and legal.
