Summer Friday!

Last year, a lot of very special things occurred, one of them was a Blue Moon. As you may know, this is when there are 2 Full Moons in one month (which happens every 2-3 years, the next one will be in 2018!). Hence the saying, “Once in a Blue Moon”. 

On this particular Friday the ocean was calling my name, so I took an early train home from NYC to get to the beach and enjoy the last few hours of sunlight. Jeff (bf) and I stayed on the beach right by the water until dusk. We watched the surfers revel in the huge waves that the swimming children were trying avoid. The seagulls were sitting on the jetty enjoying the ocean spray. The sky changed from blue to pink to purple and finally the moon started rising. 

It was truly a beautiful afternoon that left us...hungry. After a celebratory Friday beer at the Beach Haus Brewery roof deck, we visited Jimmy’s Pizza, right on the beach and got GIANT (seriously huge) pizza slices. We retrieved the camping chairs from the trunk of my car and posted up on the beach and devoured our slices. The moon was a such a spectacle that evening, it seemed as if time had paused and everyone was staring up at the night sky. It was perfect.

It reminded me that you don’t always need to travel far and wide to see something amazing, it could be right in front of your eyes if you just keep them open.
