Certosa di Padula
Certosa di Padula, also called Certosa di San Lorenzo, is a very famous monastery, located in the town of Padula, province of Salerno, in the Campania region, it is the second largest monastery in Italy, it was founded by Tommaso San Severino in 1306, in honor of San Lorenzo, part of its building memora the death of this deacon showing the grills where he was burned alive, this place is considered a World Heritage Site, from 1806 this monastery has been restructured and enriched by works of art, after the soldiers of Napoleon, sacked and assaulted the monastery, this monastery is important because at its entrance there is a machine, which fed the Emperor Charles V in the year 1534, cooking 1000 eggs, to commemorate that day , every year a festival is held in the month of September.
