5-min Freewrite: My Other Castle
Mummy says the living room is not for playing, but I play there anyway.
That’s where my castle is. I built it myself with Daddy’s old shirts, two chairs, and a blanket with holes in it. It’s the best castle in the world. Inside, I have my flashlight that serves as a sword, my teddy that stands as a guard, and a paper that I shaped into a crown.
But I also have my other castle.
That one is in my room. It’s smaller and made of cardboard boxes from when Mummy bought new stuff. She almost threw the boxes away but I stopped her just in time. That castle is special. It has drawings of dragons on the side. Inside, I keep my secret notebook with all the names of the knights.
There’s Knight Bobo (my monkey), Princess Lila (my sister’s doll I borrowed), and me, King Jaja the Brave.
Sometimes I go there when I feel sad or when nobody wants to play with me. In my other castle, the one in my room, I have super powers.
Mummy and Daddy doesn’t always understand, but that’s okay.
Not everyone has two castles.
