The difference between emotion and feeling!

It is common for emotion and feeling to be understood as synonyms, however, they are different. Understanding this distinction is essential for more emotionally intelligent handling of these two elements in our lives.

Psychology considers emotion and feeling to be two distinct movements. Understanding the concept of each one is essential to observe their distinctions in practice. A person who does not know this difference may face challenges in managing their emotional issues.

An emotion is made up of a group of chemical and neural responses based on emotional memories arising from an external stimulus.

The feeling is a response to emotion, that is, how the individual feels when faced with an event. In general, they are the states and reactions that a person has in face of different situations.

There is a strong relationship between emotions and feelings, as it is the former that give rise to the latter. Thus, as an emotion arouses a feeling, a feeling can generate more similar emotions. Therefore, understanding how you react and feel to each type of emotion is essential to know how to recover from experiencing a negative emotion or feeling.

Self-knowledge is the key to experiencing emotions and feelings without weight and without prejudice.

Wishing you all a bright Sunday 🌞
