AKAN CLAN SYSTEM (ABUSUA)
Abusua is the name in Akan culture for a group of people that share a common materna ancestor.The Abusua line is considered to pass through the mother's blood line.People of the same Abusua share a common ancestor somewhere within their bloodline. It is a taboo to marry someone from the same Abusua. The following pictures spells out the eight (8) types of Abusua in the Akan culture with their totem,patriach,qualities, greetings,and stools occupied.
