We were so many things without realising it

We were so many things without realising it. We were lost glances that met in the crowd, shy words that barely touched without being completed. We were the trembling hands before the first touch, the promises suspended in the air that never came to fruition. We were the desire to stay, even though we didn't know how to achieve it.

But we never became.

We never managed to become the embrace that comforts sunsets or the laughter that illuminates the early mornings.

We were not plans for a shared future, nor the photos that adorn a special corner, nor the light memories, those that do not carry the shadow of pain. We were not that tomorrow.

Perhaps we were just a brief and precious chapter, a lesson in the intensity and authenticity of feeling.

Perhaps life crossed our paths for the purpose of showing us that there are fleeting loves that, by their very nature, remain indelible in our memory.
