My first Miniature box

I got into DnD a couple of years back, and my first character was a dark elf fighter called 'Surion Blisterbow' (Drizzt Do'Urden wannabe!). This 1st DnD group didn't continue for very long, but my good friend who was the GM set up another group involving our work friends, many of which were closet DnDers! The fighter class was a bit basic and the combat was a bit boring, so I took the jump and rolled a Warlock...also a drow...yes, they're the baddies...but I've been reading the Drizzt Do'Urden books and have really got into the lore! And anyway he's chaotic neutral so he can behave when he wants!

So anyway below are some pictures of a quick mini-box I made for my warlock, and a description of how I made it.

I made the box from 2 pieces of scrap pine.

The edges of the 'top piece/lid' were routed to create a simple bevel

Next I used a chisel to carve out a cavity in both pieces for the mini to be 'entombed'. Someone better then me might have been able to use a router, but given the small size I was worried I was going to lose fingers, so I did it the old fashioned way.

After sanding I used acrylic paint to decorate the box. I used the DnD warlock symbol on the top and some random daemonic symbol inside the box for effect.

I used some water based floor varnish built up with about 5 coats to protect the box and give it a nice shine

Next I attached the clasp and hinges. I strongly recommend buying a hinge self center drill bit for centering your hinges. Especially on small projects where a high degree of accuracy is required.

Finally I lined the box with some felt.

Overall its a cool little box, made from scrap I had lying around.
