Gone were the days I could land whatever catch I wanted. No, those damn quotas had ruined all that.
Now I was forced to sail by the moon and the stars, wreathed in the secrecy of the velvet night.
I no longer caught but I did worry about being caught.

What a great little story, @bagpuss. I like how you create a romantic feel to the setting and his illegal activities. Not to mention the clever switch from being one who catches to being one who is trying not to be caught!
