Faith...Also a verb

and in Bali, a way of life... Welcome to the 'Faith... Also a Verb' Photo Series!

This picture was taken at Tirta Empul temple, a sacred water temple in the town of Tampak Siring, right outside of Bali's spiritual center, Ubud on the day of the last full moon. Worth noting? The temple usually gets more packed on days where the moon is full due to it's close relationship with water.

Every day, hundreds of people show up to receive the blessings of the sacred water through the 12 spouts you see pictured. People go to release their fears, to make offerings, and to pray for whatever it is that they way to call into their lives. As you wait in line (which usually takes around 45min) you will notice big koi fish calmly swimming around you.

One of the things that I really love about being here is that the Balinese treat their faith as the cornerstone for their lives, not just another item on the proverbial 'to do' list. Every house has a temple. Every village has to have at least three community temples as mandated by law. If you pay attention as a tourist here, you'll notice that there's always something spiritual going on. As a matter of fact, they celebrate over 2000 ceremonies every year. Can you imagine that?!
