Deep Listening

When we spend time in nature certain aspects of the natural environment affect us in positive ways so here is a poem I wrote about that

Deep Listening

In the gentle wind and movement of leaves

The black walnut trees talk,

with lilac bushes all covered in lavender colored blossoms

I can hear their sweet conversations

They love each other

Under the rich ground,

their roots touch and tangle

Baby rabbits laugh at them for gushing so much

They turn all the violence of men into nourishment

They are more mature brothers and sisters to us all

Growing in such grace and patience

Never hating our ignorance

I listen to them, and the bird songs,

for a long while

and I feel the heaviness inside

ease slowly away
