Keep Going!
Have you noticed how some days just suck? Despite your best effort to make everything work, it just doesn’t! One unfortunate event unravels into another, and even a radio host screams your worst fears right into your ear? Or perhaps it’s that law of attraction everyone is talking about? Perhaps I myself project this onto my reality?
In any case, today has been one of those days.
While laying in bed and drowning in my own misery, I was contemplating as to “why I’m doing all this” and “maybe I should just take it easy and quit”? In the midst of all this, as I was lazily scrolling through Steemit, I stumbled on a post by @hanshortfirst - about how he met a student of his he had taught many years ago. (You should read it, by the way, it’s awesome!) And suddenly I felt a timid whisper of inspiration.
My mind swirled and twisted and took me a few months back, into a rainy September night, to the time when one of my belly dance classes had just ended. A string of Christmas lights on the curtains flickered on the walls, and the room resonated in warm laughter of my students. My students... Women from all walks of life - college girls, moms and daughters, grandmothers. They were chit-chatting with each other, sipping on their wine, discussing the new moves we had just learned, showing off their new outfits to each other.
All of a sudden, one of them - let’s call her J. - came up to me and touched me softly on my shoulder. She was wearing golden belly dance wings I had just purchased and brought to the class for the girls to play around with, which made her look like a beautiful Phoenix bird risen from the ashes :).
“Thank you, Elena,” she said.
“For what?” I giggled.
“For making this fairy tale come true.”

I had to give her an impulsive hug - partly because I wanted to, and partly because I wanted to hide my tears.
So, on days like this - when nothing, absolutely nothing seems to go as planned or have any meaning - I remember this. I make fucking fairy tales come true. And I keep going. :))
And so should you!

Love and peace,
Elena
