Enjoying some delicious Tizanas (a Venezuelan drink) ESP/ENG

Hello, hello, internet folks! How are you doing? Today I want to share a little bit of yesterday with you, as I was out shopping with my sister. I only have one day off, so that’s the day we use to get all our shopping and errands done. That’s how yesterday went—hopping between stores, supermarkets, and the bank. As you can imagine, it gets a bit overwhelming, especially with the air feeling heavy and humid and the heat being stifling. Here’s a little tidbit about Venezuelan culture for you, though: 😁 in situations like this, places we call "fuentes de soda" (soda fountains) are a lifesaver. They sell everything there—from light snacks to refreshing drinks like juices, yogurt, and the star of this post: *Tizana*.

¡Hola Hola, gente de internet1 ¿Cómo están? Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una partecita de mi día de ayer, ya que andaba de compras junto con mi hermana. Yo tengo un solo día libre, así que ese es el día en el que ella y yo aprovechamos de hacer todas nuestras compras y diligencias y así fue el día de ayer entre tiendas, supermercados y el banco, como ustedes comprenderán todo eso resulta un poco agobiante, en especial cuando el aire estaba denso y cargado de humedad, además de un calor sofocante, y aquí les voy a compartir un dato que forma parte de la cultura venezolana 😁 para estos casos siempre vienen bien lugares como estos a los que llamamos "fuentes de soda" en estos lugares venden de todo, desde snacks ligeros hasta bebidas refrescantes como jugos, yogour y la protagonista de este post, la Tizana.

We were really craving this drink to cool off and because of its delicious flavor, so I didn't think twice about ordering a couple of glasses (I had been here before with a friend and was amazed by the *tizanas* they sell, so I ordered them with total confidence). Plus, the service is top-notch—the attendant is very friendly and attentive to customers—and the prices are affordable.

For those who aren't from Venezuela and might be wondering what this drink is or what it’s made of—don't worry, I’ll tell you. It is a very refreshing drink—the kind you’d call a "summer drink" in countries with four seasons. It is unique because, while the liquid base is traditionally watermelon juice (we call the fruit *patilla* here)—often enhanced with grenadine for that signature red hue—the best part, and what makes it so unusual, is that it’s not just about the liquid; it is packed with plenty of fruit chunks, such as pineapple, mango, banana, melon, and strawberries or grapes. It is usually served with a straw and a drizzle of condensed milk, making it not only a refreshing, ice-cold beverage but also a dessert—or even a complete, nutritious breakfast.
