Most Expensive Wine's

It was a big year for fine wine auctions. Christie’s held 16 live sales around the world, while Sotheby’s made a total of over US$64 million from its 21 sales in London, New York and Hong Kong. Here are their most expensive lots of 2017.

12-bottle cases of Vosne Romanee, Cros Parantoux 1990 Henri Jayer and Hermitage, La Chapelle 1961 Paul Jaboulet Aine sold for US$157,051 each at auction in Hong Kong.
Another Hong Kong sale saw a 43-bottle vertical of Screaming Eagle sell for US$149,007.
A six-bottle case of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, Romanee-Conti 1996 sold for US$134,750, above its high estimate of US$90,000.
A bottle of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, Romanee-Conti 2013 sold for US$55,350, above its high pre-sale estimate of US$40,000.

A 12-bottle case of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti’s Romanee-Conti sold for £198,000.
A 12-bottle case of Chateau Cheval-Blanc 1947 went for £168,000.
A single bottle of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 1806 sold for £45,600.
In the US, the top-selling lot was a 12-bottle case of DRC Montrachet 1990, which sold for US$104,125.
From Christie’s Hong Kong side, the best-performing lot was another 12-bottle case of Chateau Cheval-Blanc 1947, which sold for US$203,740.
