Biggest Desert in Europe on Fire

Desert on fire? There is another contradiction, this desert was also the biggest forest area in Vojvodina, Serbia. Was.
The official story is Deliblato sands has The Ice Age Origin, but i like to think that there was a nice beach there millions years ago in the Pannonian Sea.
For thousands of years this desert was pain in the ass for people living around. The sand encroached on surrounding farmlands, buried villages and strong Košava winds swept up the loose quartz sand, causing massive dust storms.
1789 some smart people decided that the sand dunes should stop moving and after years of strategy making, 1818 was the year when afforestation began.
And as you can see in this (my only photo in this post) photo, they did a pretty good job and freezing the dunes. This part called Zagajička brda is still not burning, but the forest you see in the background is on fire right now.

The first smaller fire can be seen july 21. but it was contained in a day

Next one started August 5. And on the first day it was out of control.
August 8. is the day when there are first Sentinel-2 images, and at this moment, if not sooner, it should have been obvious to everyone with a half of a brain cell and just basic info of the Deliblato Sands that this fire will not be stopped with ground forces and 2-3 helicopters flying few rounds.
It is called a desert because there is a lot of sand. Any of you tried to drive on lot of sand? Heavy firetrucks are not really made for a lot of sand.
You may also notice a squares on the map, they are not so visible everywhere, but some smart people 100-200 years ago made those, as Firebreaks. But those smart people died long ago. New, not so smart people decided to let the nature take care of those firebrakes. As you can imagine, nature wanted to grow there, so firebrakes were more like tunnels from trees. Looks nice, not so great for stopping fire spread.
next satelite image is 15th. Day before our supreme commander went public to say the he would like to thank EU and Russia for offering help, but we are fine and everything is under perfect control...
Well 2 days later, everything was under control. If almost getting Danube (river) on fire you can call under control.
there are no new satellite images after 18th but as of today this is the full area affected seen on NASA Fire Information for Resource Management System.
Everything was so under control that (probably day or two after the statement) they called Russia to send a plane.
And the IL-76 flu 5 rounds today dropping over 200.000 liters of water. Considering today was one of the toughest days because the fire was moving fast at several villages, i think it was the difference of one of those villages burning or not.

And because everything is fucking politics, now the main topics are, why Russia, yes Russia, where is the EU, why didn't EU send help (they asked, we said no need. Serbia is part of EU Civil Protection Mechanism)...
Instead of asking why they didn't ask for help at the start of August from EU, Russia and fucking Aliens. The 160m2 would still be forest instead of dust and ash.
The one good thing at the moment is that there are no human casualties.

Kada priroda odluči da nas otrese, kao u Venecueli, Kolumbiji ili Indoneziji, pa razornim zemljotresima napravi veliku štetu u ljudskim žrtvama i imovini, na koga da se ljutimo? Na Boga, na nesrećnu sudbinu...? Prihvatimo i idemo dalje.
A kako prihvatiti kada neznalice na vrhu države dopuste da "severo-južni" vetar rasplamsa plamen i uništi prirodu na ovako velikom prostranstvu?
Treba motku u ruke, pa ne samo po plamenu.
Ali ko, kada 90% populacije ne zna šta se u Deliblatskoj peščari dešava.

Da nije interneta, ni ovih 10% što ipak zna, bili bi u mraku.
A tek ćemo videti, šta je bio naum hulje, kome i zašto je u interesu da ovo ponovo postane pustinja...

taj severno juzni vetar je sve i zajebo...
evo sad gledam, bas je mrak. ko cernobil. zadnja dva dana duvao vetar prema Temisvaru pa ugusismo Rumune, digla se frka sta to gori. i evo vec danas ih ubedili da "prihvate" pomoc.
Kaze ovaj nacelnik iz sektora za vanredne situacije "prihvatili smo pomoc" u fazonu nije nam bas potrebno al aj kad ste navalili posalji tih 4 helikoptera 20tak kamiona i 200 vatrogasaca...

we actually managed to suffocate Timisoara 100km away few days ago so they had to accept help from EU. People in Timisoara were like this can't continue, we can't breathe.
it is cloudy at the moment so satellites are probably not accurate in detecting fires but it looks like they will manage to contain it in few days with EU and Russia help.
oblacno je trenutno pa sateliti verovatno bas nisu precizni al deluje da ce sad u kombinaciji nasih i eu helikoptera i ruskog aviona uspeti da ga zaustave za par dana. a kisa ce se cekati da ga konacno ugasi.
