After a somewhat rough week due to prolonged power outages, I’m going to share a cute keychain made from a recycled scrap of denim ♻️ decorated with half-pearls. I call this type of project “zero-cost” because I repurpose leftover materials; I use them to make keychains, pot holders, hair ties, and bookmarks. This time I made a heart because it’s the symbol of love, but you can make shapes like butterflies, stars, or five-petal flowers; it’s just a matter of letting your imagination run wild to create keychains or bag charms. You’ll use a buttonhole stitch along the edge of the fabric, which prevents fraying and is decorative at the same time. Without further ado, let’s get started with the step-by-step guide.

Después de una semana un poco accidentada por los cortes prolongados de electricidad, voy a publicar un lindo llavero hecho con un retazo de jeans reciclado ♻️ decorado con medias perlas. Este tipo de proyecto yo lo llamo cero costo, porque le doy utilidad a materiales que van sobrando; aprovecho para hacer llaveros, agarradores de ollas, coletas para el cabello, marcapáginas. En esta oportunidad hice un corazón porque es el símbolo del amor, pero puedes hacer figuras como mariposas, estrellas, flores de 5 pétalos; es cuestión de poner a volar la imaginación para lucir como llaveros o colgantes para bolsos. Aplicas la costura de ojal que se hace por el borde de la prenda, lo que evita que se deshilache y, a la vez, es decorativo. Sin más nada que agregar, vamos con el paso a paso.

• A scrap of denim.
• Sewing thread and a needle.
• A keychain ring.
• A scrap of terlenka yarn.
• 1 wooden bead.
• Scissors.
• Stuffing.

• 1 cuenta de madera.

 # ✨***STEPS//PASOS***✨ * On the piece of denim fabric, trace the outline of a heart. Then cut out 2 pieces. >* En el retazo de tela de jeans, marcar la silueta de la figura del corazón. Luego cortar 2 piezas.  * Place the two pieces together to begin sewing, using the buttonhole stitch along the edge of the fabric heart. >* Juntar las dos piezas para comenzar a coser aplicando la costura ojal por el borde del corazón de tela.  * Once we've sewn halfway through the heart, we pause to form the pendant by threading both threads through the hole in the wooden bead and tying a knot. Then we bring that hanging thread to the midpoint between the two pieces of the heart and continue sewing, trying to pass the needle through the threads to secure them. >* Cuando hemos cosido la mitad del corazón, hacemos una parada para formar el colgante, pasando los dos hilos por el orificio de la cuenta de madera, haciendo un nudo. Luego llevar ese hilo colgante hasta la mitad entre las dos piezas del corazón y continuar con la costura tratando de pasar la aguja por los hilos para fijarlos.
