DAILY WHINGING in the studio - When ORIGINAL content is flagged as AI. A NEW problem

MODERN CONCERNS
The problem with AI image detection software.
So, as many of you know, I like to dabble in the arts. In fact, I really would rather consider myself a very creative person. I love doing all sorts of things that are to do with art and creating, whether that be painting, drawing, sewing, colouring book creation, designing—all those things. They're all very interesting to me.
And I'm in the process of trying to make some side hustle pocket money and thinking about printing a book through Amazon KDP, or putting some stuff up on Etsy, or trying to self-publish some sort of books related around my hobbies. So, in this case, dance. It's always dance. Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance. What else would it be?
And so I drew some colouring pages based on images in our dance studio itself, as well, I might add, and then uploaded the finished result to Hive AI Checker. And quite dishearteningly, it's come up that it thinks that this is 97.8% AI generated.
Can you imagine?
( see the video below of me drawing another page in the book. believe me this is OUR DRESSING ROOM in the theatre. Dressing room 3, the Green room in Prompt corner. the dumb electrical box and all.)
I admit i added the drawers under the table for some interest... and its lino floor not wood... and the sign is on the wrong side of the door... but they are artistic changes on purpose.
MORE eye rolls

(please note that 94% was when i uploaded it with the next scribbled over the top)
I am rather disappointed and also a little bit alarmed. While I am absolutely, completely, and utterly for the idea of knowing what is AI deepfake in the world, I think this is extremely important. We need to know. We can't be having information going around that is obviously AI generated and crap. I mean i Know colouring book, its hardly going to change the world, or cause harm, however it IS the pricipal of it. It needs to be declared.
However, at the same time, what am I supposed to do about this? If I'm putting a label on this that says this is not AI, and Amazon decides that they want to go and check this and run my images or my book or whatever it is through some form of an AI checker, and they decide that this is AI and I have lied in the segment that, you know, I need to click to say, "Oh, this is not AI generated," then I could get my account banned.
So I'm really not entirely sure what I'm thinking about this. What do I do? How do I work this? What is the correct way to move forward here?
Has any of you run across problems like this? what are you doing about this?
Where do we go moving forward with the need to CHECK content for AI. like... i don't HATE AI generated stuff if its useful and good... but seriously... we need to know right?
anyway...
So yeah, it's certainly a little bit tricky, and I don't quite know where to go from here.
Ironically i asked GPT what it thought of this... and it said that the colouring book style is so well known these days and that GPT is trained on real images that it might be recognising the style of nose... and things...
anyway. Who knows.
Please note... in creating this text i dictated the text. and i use a template in PEAK D (Just declaring)

oh and i KNOW in a comment somewhere i said i run the pages through a cleaner sometimes.... HOWEVER this upload to the AI checker was BEFORE i did that step. i might have to check what happens with that as well. just a note here to remind myelf that i need to do that step as well.
Yep it's a problem.
Sibling dearest and I were talking about exactly this maybe an hour or so ago (including discussing the blog post that I linked above, though I use the term loosely as it's mostly a selection of redacted screenies accusing this comic artist whose art and art style predates AI by a very long way and was one of many that the AI trained on accusing said comic artist of very obviously using AI).
I'm not sure if AI detecting AI is any better or worse than humans sometimes. Also if not you personally anyone that draws even vaguely similar to you probably had their art vacuumed up for training and if AI can reproduce this style (highly likely because it's nice and clean) then you are likely to be a false positive.
AI will generally (theoretically) just be following its parameters when it's flagging stuff. And some of them have been interesting as I remember running text from a post here through some anti-plagiarism things and it flagged as 100% plagiarism and gave me a link for what was supposed to be a possible source and there was nothing even remotely related between the two.
Humans you won't be able to tell anything to because half the time they know they're right so hard there is no room for facts or anyone else's opinion and you're absolutely lying, there is no other option.
I reckon if you feel like it would be a fun thing to do/that you'd like to try, just go ahead and see where you end up :)
Peakd also has a store thing too if that might be useful for you (I know nothing about it other than it exists).
gosh!!
yes, what a wonderful example! or rather not, a wonderful example. how awful. What struck me is the venom of those commenters who (while not being art ctitique people) kept saying that they saw a "wobble in a hand or line" and that "screamed AI" to them and them commented on how bad the art was. How horrible. Just horrible.
Even the presense of AI in the Art world is removing the authenticity of the artists. People can't look at art and decide if they like it or not, FIRST they are looking to see if it was made or painted for real.
its certainly removing the emotion from the experience of viewing the art. I really don't like that at all. Not that a buch of colouring pages is there to create emotion, but for other artists that is the whole point of art.
well in my view.
Anyway im going to go and experiments some more today and see if running it through the cleaners and things improves or NOT improves the scores. might be interesting.
funnily enough, i ran another one through last night and it came up as 57%.
Also... interesting is that its not coming up with ONE sourse. Its saying i used or could have used all these programs that i have never even HEARD of. so goodness knows.
Anyway thanks for the HELPFUL comment. much appreciated.
have a great day

Your experience/experiments running things through cleaners sounds like a future post waiting to happen ;D My current hypothesis is that it might make it seem more like AI, as far as I can tell there have been some people that are getting called out for AI usage when all they seem to be doing is getting AI to translate and/or grammatically edit their posts (the latter case sometimes even if English is their first language).
I know you're going to worry and stress about it til you process this particular part of the planning phase but I"m still going to tell yo u not to anyway :)
i guess at SOME point people with either stop worrying about if it was or was not created with AI and we will have some better system to deal with that...
i guess for the moment i will just continue to document what im doing. Fingers crossed that is enough
thanks love
