The Kraken

In stories that goes back to the age of 1500 there has been legends about a gigant octopus that lives in the deep sea. And if he sees you close to his territory he will surface and drag your ship into the deep never to be seen again.

Later on a big octopus like the kraken came up on a beach, but no-one ever thought that the gigant beast could acutely exist.
they live deep into the ocean and most have never seen them but how did the story of the kraken start.

I think that mankind did something to the first kraken that surfaced maybe because of fright, dread or curiosity but we will never know...

why did it surface in the first place? was it looking for something or someone? or did it go out to hunt?
and if no-one surveyed the sinking ship and the kraken that devoured it with the men onboard how do we have the tale of the kraken...
