In a shallow trench somewhere on the Eastern Front, two German infantrymen look at the combat photographer as shelling produces plumes of smoke on their horizon. Note the man nearer the camera wearing a leather strap on his helmet-- the part of kit necessary to hold in place the camouflage canvas cover of the helmet.
