Instrument playing problems
In these pandemic days is sometimes hard to find a motivation for practicing instrument, in my case, trumpet. When you don't have a goal (concert, gig, recording, etc.) in two years you must find the inner strength for proper practice. Daily routines are a good way to begin practicing (long notes, arpeggios, lip drills, staccato studies, scales, etc.) but what to do after that?
I find my way. In the last few months, I bought a studio table and monitors for my home studio. From before I have a sound card, MIDI keyboard and microphone. I tried to make some recordings but for now, I don't have a good acoustic in my room so I put on a delay that project.
The good story behind that is that I started to play concerts, sonatas, etudes and other trumpet music with Youtube. Today you can find a lot of accompaniments. Some are pianos but some are orchestras. In a few months, I really improved my playing and every day I play something different, usually, I combine classical and jazz/popular music. I really recommend this way to get musically and physically in shape.
Who knows, maybe you will get a call tomorrow for some gigs?
