English Version
Hello everyone in the community. Yesterday I opened my physical blog looking for a note I made weeks ago to expand it and turn it into a final text, and something strange happened: time behaved unpredictably. One minute became eternal. Half an hour passed like nothing. And before I knew it, I had already spent an hour in front of the screen without having advanced almost anything, but feeling that I had lived much more than sixty minutes.
Everything we know lives under the influence of time. Although we don't know exactly what it is, we perceive it in everything around us. Many times this perception can feel different depending on the action we are performing. Daily life is full of these moments where we feel that time does not pass the same way as on the hands of a clock: some moments become very short and others very long, although this sensation depends entirely on each person.
Whenever we think about these situations where time feels different, we tend to see it as follows: the good passes quickly, the bad passes slowly.
-
The dream vacation that ends in a sigh.
-
A conversation with a loved one that you wish would never end.
-
The last episode of a series that hooks you and ends too soon.
-
An agonizing wait in a hospital room that becomes eternal.
-
A heavy work day where the clock seems not to move.
-
An uncomfortable argument where every minute drags on for no reason.
But this is not always the case. Life is too complex for every situation to be reflected that way. If we look back, each moment, rather than labels, there is a spectrum where not everything is black and white. It can be a combination of both things, just like our perception of time and how it affects us depending on the experience. In my previous reflection I emphasized this aspect: dualities ultimately come from the same thing; it's just that depending on how we look at it, that's the connotation we give it. That is something we can become aware of in order to see situations from other angles, and that allows us to have a range of possibilities to face daily life with more calm, patience and clarity, affecting us as little as possible personally in order to make better decisions.
-
A rainy afternoon at home, doing nothing special, that is enjoyed for its slowness.
-
A slow walk through the countryside where every step is a gift.
-
A traffic jam that allows you to listen to an audiobook you love.
-
A fleeting kiss that ends before you can savor it.
-
Good news that is told to you so quickly you can't process it.
There are moments that are very simple and different. A few days ago I sat in a park near the house, where children usually play and people gather to get some fresh air and have casual conversations. I was sitting on a bench and, suddenly, I paid attention to how the wind blew over the leaves of the trees, all immersed in the reddish color of the sunset and nice weather. When I realized, it was already night. It was a moment of pure presence, where time no longer mattered. That is another way of feeling time. When you do an activity you like so much that you no longer even think about how time passes, but the action absorbs you until it becomes the only world available and nothing else matters. It can even be when you choose to do nothing, as a form of meditation.
There is no right way to perceive the world around us, but we can choose how it affects us afterwards. It all depends on our point of view and how we are able to manage it.
I invite you today to observe a moment in your day when time feels strange. Do not judge it. Just ask yourself: what lens am I using to look at it?
If you dare, share your experience in the comments 😃.

very good post, time is so relative, it feels like it passes so quickly sometimes as it happens that our actions are slower
