Alright friends…this Tuesday we’re doing something a little different. We’re interviewing one of our own — @meno — and the whole @snapie operation behind him.

Snapie showed up in July 2025 as a small mobile app for short-form Snaps. It is now on iOS, Google Play, and the web, and became a Hive witness in December 2025 — announced in the middle of a brutal market with the line that securing the chain is part of the responsibility, “even when the price of Hive is less than ideal.”

Behind it sits @mantequilla-soft, the dev collective @meno runs with @tibfox, @eddiespino, @kesolink and @joseamenac. They publish weekly progress reports in public. They rebuilt 3Speak’s backend and got it to 100% uptime. They shipped Hive Hangouts, then rebranded it OpenPods. They built My Own Page, a no-code site builder that hands anyone a yourname.snapie.io site with Keychain login. They open-sourced a Claude Code skill for building on Hive. In one recent week alone: 25 commits on Snapie.

@meno has been on this chain since 2017, has 16,847 posts to his name and just wrote a post saying that if he ever issued a fund-or-leave ultimatum to the community, he’d hope to be told to fuck off.

With @snapie we’ll be talking about building broke, whether Hive needs another frontend, and what happens to half this ecosystem’s infrastructure if one guy burns out.
