The Debate - Soda with Ice or without

Noticed the last few years.. younger people who use self serve soda fountains, do not use ice?

Self-serve soda.. to me its mandatory to fill the entire cup with ice and then fill the rest with soda (since its all you can drink at most self-serve fountains. Liking soda frozen without it being solid is the only way to have it?

Any thoughts? and of course it not good for your health to drink any soda with sugar, but when you do, why not enjoy it super cold.
