Vostok Station - Antarctica

Vostok Station (Russian: Ста́нция Восто́к, translit. Stántsiya Vostók, articulated [ˈstant͡sɨjə vɐˈstok], truly "Station East") is a Russian (once in the past Soviet) explore station in inland Princess Elizabeth Land, Antarctica. Established by the Soviet Union in 1957, the station lies at the southern Pole of Cold, with the most reduced dependably estimated characteristic temperature on Earth of −89.2 °C (−128.6 °F; 184.0 K). Research incorporates ice center penetrating and magnetometry. Vostok (Russian for "east") was named after Vostok, the lead ship of the First Russian Antarctic Expedition captained by Fabian von Bellingshausen (the second ship Mirny captained by Mikhail Lazarev turned into the namesake for Mirny Station).
