South Coast pickleball plus new home orchids : August 29 2026

Got to say I like waking up in our Shoalhaven Heads house. Do not have the sliding doors and windows to wake me up every 10 minutes from 5am. Feel kind of rested after a late night for US markets open. My wife went off for coffee. Was hoping to catch up with my son but his day ran into my afternoon. Decided not the drive the 45 minutes to spend 10 minutes there and drive back

Went to play pickleball instead at the foot of Coolangatta Mountain. This is part of connecting with the community we will move into sometime next year

Worked on some of the drills learned last week. Still feel like I have a long way to go. Will line up some coaching - kind of thinking the 70 year old body is in amazing shape to do well in 70+ competition. Won more than we lost. Just fab playing in the shadow of the mountain with no wind.

As befits pickleball days a bit short of photos. Did get photos of the cymbidium orchids flowering. Our friend gifted these when they moved out a few weeks ago. Opened this week. Orchids will come to Sydney with us tomorrow

Side on - some fabulously contrasted colours - like autumn

Cooked a protein melange for friends for dinner. Was a process of managing timing. Thai fish cakes to start made from scratch. Yum. A bbq mix from there on - timing - baked potatoes, eye fillet not sliced, chicken sausages, beef patties, one chicken thigh, lamb chops (from our guests), a few butterflied prawns, seared broccolini. Served with beans and cauliflower veges. Worked well. Chef was talking to himself a lot to keep track. And in between threw the ball for the dog a lot plus a few toilet walks.
