Since I was raised in a religious family, faith and hope have always been a part of my life. So much so that, at one point, I considered making a career out of it.

At first, the plan was to volunteer on missions around the world. One of the ideas that appealed to me most was doing something for those in need.

However, life is full of surprises, as Joseph Climber would say. It took me a while to figure out how the world really works—a world where even nonprofit organizations bring together the most greedy people on the planet.

When I realized that everything is geared toward serving personal agendas, I went from believing in something to being skeptical of everything. On the one hand, you stop being used to achieve other people’s goals. On the other hand, disbelief also comes at a price.

From that moment on, practically everything ceases to make sense because society is structured on the belief that human beings work for the collective good. Which couldn’t be further from reality.

As a result, values and respect for institutions are lost. Everything comes to be questioned, from the intentions of a TV host to the organization of society.

And that is why it is much better to be naive than to know the reality. As long as one believes in a better future, there is hope and a reason to get up every day, work, and contribute to social well-being.

Now, those who do not believe in the intentions of government officials, religious leaders, and businesspeople have no motivation to participate in a play of dubious taste. And life becomes unbearable.

Como eu fui criado em uma família religiosa, a fé e a esperança sempre estiveram presentes na minha vida. A ponto de, em determinado momento, pensar em viver disso.

A princípio, o plano era atuar como voluntário em missões mundo afora. Uma das ideias que mais me cativavam era fazer algo por quem precisa.

No entanto, a vida é uma caixinha de surpresas, como diria Joseph Climber. Custei para descobrir como o mundo realmente funciona. Onde até mesmo organizações sem fins lucrativos reúnem os seres humanos mais gananciosos do planeta.

Quando descobri que tudo está a serviço de projetos pessoais, passei da crença em algo ao ceticismo em tudo. Por um lado, deixa-se de ser usado para alcançar objetivos alheios. Por outro lado, a descrença também tem o seu preço.

A partir desse momento, praticamente tudo deixa de fazer sentido porque a sociedade está estruturada na crença de que o ser humano trabalha pela coletividade. O que não poderia estar mais longe da realidade.

Com isso, perdem-se os valores e o respeito pelas instituições. Tudo passa a ser questionado, desde as intenções do apresentador da televisão até a organização da sociedade.

E é por isso que é muito melhor ser ingênuo do que conhecer a realidade. Enquanto se acredita em um futuro melhor, há esperança e motivo para levantar todos os dias, trabalhar e contribuir para o bem-estar social.

Agora, quem não acredita nas intenções das autoridades constituídas, religiosos e empresários, não tem motivação para participar de uma peça de teatro de gosto duvidoso. E a vida se torna insuportável.
