Steemit confusion already

I'm guessing the key to learning steemit is to play around, read a lot of stuff and watch how-to vids on youtube.

There doesn't seem to be an idiot guide for idiot like me so I shall be plodding along and breaking things as I go.
So lets attempt getting a pic on here. not sure how to get a profile pic. Not sure they even do profile pics.

But here I hope is a pic.
