how to write an engaging essay/article?

So as the title suggests I'm trying to improve my writing, Since I joined steemit I read really well written articles which i guess inspired me but this is something I wanted to work on for a while.

If anyone has any useful tips on how to start and structure an essay, if theres any methological approach to it, and different techniques or styles of writting, or any help at all would be very much appreciated.
