Remembering my first ever try on UI/UX!

Hello my fellow Hivers.
It feels great to be back here after a whole month of stressful semester exams. Another recent update on my life is that I finally got the opportunity to return to Kuwait - the place I was raised, and was very glad to reconnect with my parents.

Putting that aside, I wanted to share that I have resolved to try my best to be active here and present to you more about my journey of design and also hope to contribute a lot more to this platform.

On today's post, I’d like to present to you the very first design I had worked on as I stepped into the UI/UX industry.

The software I used and still continue to use today is Figma. Figma is a digital design application mainly used for UI/UX design but is also used by many designers for various other projects. The application's ability to allow the users to collaborate with other designers having a Figma account on the same project together and work on it simultaneously is something that I really appreciate about the platform.

Since I just started out with designing interfaces, this took around a whopping 3 hours to do with a lot of focus in the mix.
Reminiscing about this, I remember that this design was from my first ever voluntary UI/UX program I joined.

As it is quite evident, it isn't an ideal design in terms of multiple factors.
There's irregular spacing between most elements that are used. The shadow blur effect was excessive, and it also spread out unevenly. Specific icons used were from cropped screenshots taken from Google that lowered the overall quality of the design.

Looking at it now, I feel embarrassed, but I am also grateful that I kept going. So basically, what I mean to say is that you just need to start off somewhere. If you never tried, you'd never know how it would turn out for you and that's something I'd like to pass on as the message for today.

It's our actions by 'doing it' rather than 'thinking about it’ that keep us moving forward. I'll conclude by leaving a quote from Steve Jobs that said, "Ideas without action aren't ideas, they're regrets."
