Tonight's cool weather
Borrows her loveliness
From Nkem
The weather's dampness is her succulent lips
The swaying trees, her hips
The cold is her cool little hands
Earth's teardrops, like her smile, more valuable than Rands.
The patter
On aluminium sheets
Is her laughter-
Gentle and continuous.
The air
Is her breath-
Cool and refreshing,
Like cold drink on a sunny noon.
The thunder is Nkem's anger-
Rumbling and short
But without the encore.
The lightening sparkles like her eyes
Bright lamps in a shapely holder
Her voice is to me
Like rain to a farmer-
Sweet music,
An orchestra of promises-
Promises of a forever
Promises of fruitfulness,
Like a farmer's barn at harvest
When Earth smiles kindly
Upon his field.
