Fun Fact in my city: Belo Horizonte

The Capital of the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Here we have a fun and known “mysterious” street called “Rua do Amendoim” or in english
“ Peanut Street ”.

Now you’re asking yourself “…so the name it’s the funny part?!” well, it’s funny, but not the real point.

This street have become a big attraction in the city, because of an Optical Illusion the makes the street look like it's going up when in fact it's going down, so when you park you car at the begin of the street in the so call down part of it and take your foot off the break the car start to go backwards and up.
In the past it was believed the explanation for that was the pockets of iron ore below the street, the could be polarized (like magnets) and that was pulling the cars up, but once people started to test with all sort of things and the effect continues to work, researchers from the Physics Department at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) found out the was just an optical Illusion. Either way that did not take the fun out of it :D

Believe or not, but it’s FUN AS HELL!!!!
