Lawn and Garden Updates with Some Coffee
Sitting here sipping on some coffee as I type my words. Trying to recall events of the last week. It's getting harder it seems to recall short term memory. I hate it. But here we are.
We're anticipating rain the next couple of days. After all the rain we had a few days ago, you would think we wouldn't need any. Nope. We have a small drought going on. The ground just sucked up the last rainfall. It's already dried out and cracking. We've been watering the flowers and plants to compensate. The lawn just has to suffer. Not wasting water on it. Lawn isn't doing bad though. Turning a little brown. It'll survive.
Cherry tomatoes are fighting to live. They're still little sprouts. I've transplanted some of the larger ones to pots now. Need to get more potting soil and transplant the strawberries eventually. Not sure they're going to make it though. Working on them. Babying them. But it's all I can do right now.
Wife wants me to just give up on what I planted. Wants me to buy some plants at the store. Nope. Not giving up. These are my troubled tomatoes and strawberries. They made it through a terrible planting, thanks to me. Seeds floating everywhere. Containers falling apart. They survived several days of neglect. Again, that's on me. They did their part. Now I'm finally doing mine. I want them to succeed. I'm so invested in it now. It's almost emotional.
Crazy, eh?
On another note, our push mower started sputtering. Figured it needed a slight tuneup. Changed the spark plug. Changed the air filter. Went to check the fuel filter and found out it didn't have one. Nothing on the fuel line. Checked inside the tank. Nothing there either. I'm thinking the previous owner, my brother in law, did some maintenance on it in the past and removed it. From what I found online it's supposed to have an inline fuel filter. Researched the part number and ordered it last night. Should be here in a couple days.
Not much else to write about for now. Hope you all have a good week ahead.

Thanks for reading,
Joe

Sounds like a very productive weekend. We are in a bit of a drought too, but we had an absolutely amazing weekend the past two days.
Wasn’t too bad. Glad you had a good one. Gonna just fiddle around in garage today. Try to straighten up what I can. It’s like an oven in there though without doors open. It’s raining already so that’s out. Oh well. Maybe just kick back and find a show
Were in dry season too. But rainy season is already approaching.
I need to get my garage cleaned up a bit. Maybe one of these Friday's I am off in the summer and not busy camping.
That fuel filter is important, keeps the engine from getting all gunked up! I hope that gets that mower working for you brother!
I hope those tomatoes and strawberries make it, good luck!

I know. Can't believe I never noticed there wasn't one before. Then again, I haven't been on top of maintenance of my stuff like usual either.
I could probably be done by now if I pushed it. But the heat just won't allow me to push it to much. No rush anyway.
Hopefully not too dry? Hopeefully it won't be too much rain either.
I don't blame you for that. My garage is the same way.
Camping is a better idea anyway .
Sometimes the toughest plants are the ones who have been through the wringer. Dont' give up. Water them with shower water, with the dregs of your tea, with love. Mulch. You WILL have tomatoes. If not, your short term memory will forget it ever happened.
I got heirloom tomato seedlings are in bigger pots now. We got to pull through this milestone together 🍅. My Strawberries are coming along in their pots with the green fruit, few small red fruit coming soon 🍓.

Oh @riverflows I needed a good laugh this very early morning. Thank you. Working on them and trying my best. Justbought some more potting soil and bigger pots. Got some large bins as well. I am invested. haha. Hope you and Jamie are well.
In it to win it! I am with ya. Not sure my strawberries are going to pull through. We will see.
Just don't give up. It always turns out to be personal in the end, a struggle with oneself plus the weather conditions.
Not giving up. In fact, the ones I have transplanted to bigger pots are already prospering.
That's nice to hear.
