I mucked up my training session but it was still okay!
I'm trying to get better at making messes.
At realising that I've made a mistake but not quitting.
At recognising that I don't have to get it perfect, I don't have to do it right, I just have to keep trying.
Even when I make messes.
(I didn't train her this morning. But we did do a walk here this afternoon. It was beautiful.)
I'm doing a simple 5 km run training plan based on the work of Jeff Galloway that I've accessed through Garmin Connect.
I'm setting my goal very low so it should be highly achievable and just get me running a little more often.
5km. parkrun. With a time goal. 25:00.
Today, I was supposed to do:
5 min warm up
1.6 km Run/Walk
5 min cool down.
But I'm still learning how to use my new watch properly. And how to access the training sessions properly. And I ran 5 minutes easy without it counting it in my session!

So I saved the workout. Found my planned session. And started again!
Luckily, the session wasn't a hard one. And it all worked out well in the end. I wasn't sure how long to run and walk for. Or how hard to push. So I just made it up! As you can see below 👇

Not too shabby for a woman who hasn't run all that much in... years.
How is your training going? Give me a quick update or (after you've given this post an upvote 😆) feel free to share a link to a training session you've done recently that you'd like me to read about 👇

I think I need a training session for walking. Im sporadic when I do it. Also when i do it, my distance and pace is also very short and slow. I need a walking plan I think that can build me up. Something I can follow and execute. Need to find one online or ask chatty to come up with one I guess. Then again, my son is a strength and conditioning coach. Maybe he can come up with something.
I bet he could. He'd probably be happy to help his old man to keep moving or get moving more again.
Do you use that term in the US: "Old man" to mean "Dad"?
In the right context, yes we do. LOL
Your approach to accepting mistakes and learning from them is truly inspiring. Life is about making progress, not about perfection, and every little step counts. It’s admirable that you’re committed to your training and that, despite the setbacks, you’ve found a way to adapt and keep going. Perseverance on the path to your goals is what really matters, and I’m sure your dedication will see you successfully complete those 5 km. Keep it up – every attempt counts!
