Hello Steemit World!

Hello Steemit Community. My name is Constance, and I'm new here to the Steemit community. I've been an artist my entire life, although I'm just now allowing myself to really live that reality out. I must say, I'm absolutely loving it. I've been a photographer my entire life, and recently fell in love with spray paint art or as I like to call them RATTLE CANS. I hope that my art can remind people that the only limits they have are those they choose to set on themselves, and we are all here to evolve and help push each other forward.

Okay, I see that you joined in December, but this is your first post. What brings you to steemit? Hopefully as steemit grows you can share your art with others on the platform itself if it grows in popularity and adoption amongst the normies of the world.

Are you looking for compensation? Be prepared to enter a complex world of political intrigue, loan sharking (SP delegation leasing, outright SBD or Steem lending), and vote-buying (through the use of bots which has permeated every post that hopes to get the light of day). It's a rough world for a newcomer but I hope that I can be of some help now and in the future. The link I already provided you has a ton of newcomer tips and tricks to help you on the platform.

Basically, right now the present state of steemit is such that if you attempt to just throw your own blog post out there it won't get much attention, because the economic incentives push people to follow and watch users with high account values in the attempt to catch some high-powered votes. Why does that matter? Well, because posts only get on the hot page if they have big $signs attached. And how do you get those big$ signs? Either have enough SP to give yourself a mega-vote (all posts on the front page are self-voted), or enough SBD to give to bid-bots that will buy the equivalent mega-votes. Combine that with content and a following that has the ability to garner more votes, and you're set.

But for new users this is pretty much all but impossible. The power users are kind of segregated into voting blocs, and strategically for you as an artist it would make the most sense for you to align yourself with some of the existing art groups here on steemit. There are other peripheral groups you can try to make friends with on the various steem chat and discord channels that these groups use, many people spend a lot of time here and it's probably the fastest way to make connections early on.

I hope none of this is depressing to you, but you have to understand that voting power is nearly everything here, and that you have to have a decent understanding of how their vested interests drive activity on the platform if you're to prepare yourself for the grind of posting and not having your work be acknowledged, something that I hope you can spend less time doing by successfully plotting your course through these uncertain waters through planning and tactical use of your time.

Again I must apologize if I have slain yet another member with a wall of text, but if you have any other questions feel free to ask me.

Oh, and as the contest describes there is a potential steem bounty for me writing this, and I believe the best use of this at the time would be to purchase an SP delegation lease for you, as the bandwidth throttling at 15 SP is extremely brutal and will lock you out for about half the day, every day without fail. Speaking of contests, there are lots of art-related contests under the contest tag, so you might want to check them out! Current prices are no guarantee of future prices, but at least for now the payouts on some of them might be worth your time.
