Going to Sakkara

Visiting Egypt means among other things going into the Sakkara complex, especially for seeing the stepped pyramid of Djoser. The oldest complete stone building monument known in history! Yes, no less than that. Just 30 km South from Cairo, you can couple this journey with the visit to Dahshur, that I mentioned in my previous post.
Do not expect any public transport to take you there. So, as well as in the case of Dahshur, hire the services of a travel agent to go there.
Pay special attention to the stepped pyramid, taking also into account that this building represents a milestone in the evolution of Architecture, because of its building materials and forms.
I strongly suggest you to get some previous information about this amazing place before visiting it.
About the funerary complex of Djoser, beside the Piyramid, take into account that you will see just a wish full reconstruction of it done probably during the XX Century. In any case enjoy it.
Last but not least, you will be able to visit the Serapeum of Sakkara a very interesting place full of mystery and attraction.
