Anyone from the Philippines?

Call me Chris.

Two days ago I discovered an article (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/jul/12/steem-digital-currency-steemit-value-soars) about this new social network that paid the community to generate, curate, and upvote content, and well I really just had to check it out.

I still know very little about how it works (where does the money come from?! Is the business model sustainable?), but I'm enjoying tons of articles so far, many of which revolve around the recent hack, crypto-currency, and of course, the platform itself. Seeing everyone's earnings got me so excited that I was willing to make first-ever Amazon.com purchase to get off to a meaningful start - an ebook called Steemit 101 by @donkeypong @cryptoctopus @stellabelle @steemship (https://www.amazon.com/Steemit-101-Discover-Social-Content-ebook/dp/B01HC47NLU#navbar), but somehow my Mastercard debit card kept getting rejected so there's that. I guess the Steem Whitepaper will do. If any of the authors sees this post, can you let me buy the book using Paypal? :D

A few things about me: I'm from Manila, Philippines and I've been doing remote work for a UK company for almost two years now. Reading is my first love and I'm happy to spend my weekends at home with my nose with stuck in a book. In college I'd always, ALWAYS, have an English dictionary in my bag because I loved learning new words and had always wanted to become a wordsmith, or something. Right now I have just finished rewatching the complete season of My Daddy Long Legs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Daddy_Long_Legs). Although I've seen the anime for more than four times now, it still gives the warm fuzzies that I cannot shake off for days. I speak four languages: Bisaya (my native tongue), Filipino, English, and basic Japanese. I'm passionate about learning and expanding my digital skills so I learned how to code and use web development tools. The knowledge has come in handy lots of times.
