God is Spirit. We are spirit. When God wants to communicate with us, it is on the spiritual level that the communication takes place.
But if there is a ton of spiritual noise drowning out your ability to hear God, you could miss out on instructions and intimate moments crucial to life.

Mark 1:35
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight,
He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He
prayed.

When God wants to do something in your life, He will remove
you from environments that are distracting and noisy. It is in
those moments that we experience clarity and purpose
becomes more apparent.
