My first 24 hours on Hive: what I learned?
I joined Hive through Ecency yesterday. Less than 24 hours in and I’ve learned a ton.
My intro post got upvotes quickly. It was reblogged by newbie-follower within minutes, even. Maarnio, Galberto, and Godfish personally welcomed me. This surprised me in a good way coming from other platforms where new accounts get ignored for weeks.
I made a mistake early on too. I was trying to be active; I commented on about 8 posts in 12 minutes. Someone called me out on it, saying it looked fake, maybe even AI-generated. It was a little hard to accept, but they were right. Then I slowed up.
That night, I used all my resource credits from all the activity. Had to pull over and wait for it to recharge. Lesson learned there too: don’t rush things to “look active."
As for the numbers, my points went from 10 to over 75 in one day. My reputation went up from 25 to 35. All just genuine engagement, no spam.
What I’ve learned so far: Hive isn’t about speed or volume. It’s a reward for true engagement. People can see the difference.
I'm a person trying to teach crypto to my Nigerian people, and I came here looking for a platform that truly values that kind of authenticity. Day one in, I think I've found it.

A heartiest welcome on this beautiful platform. My advice is to be patient, consistent and work in both manners. No need to rush at all. Prefer quality over quantity, and if you ask me, Hive Power is the real power. And, if it looks AI while it is not, maybe just change your writing style a bit. Although, I know it is not easy, and it does not look freedomic, but these days AI is taking over lots of things. Anyways, enjoy to the fullest.
Good Luck on your journey!
Thank you for this honest and helpful advice! That was a good point about Hive Power—I'm working on that slowly. And yes, I am trying to make my writing style more natural and personal. Thanks for the encouragement!
No worries pal! Just be you, but a different you when it comes to writing. Hehehe, such a paradoxical demand.
Hahaha, yep, "be yourself but differently!" I'm figuring it out one post at a time. 😄
You still haven't answered my question, who is guiding you?
I'm using Anthropic's Claude AI as an assistant. It helps me with content ideas and drafts, but I rewrite everything in my own voice before I post. Still don't know how to balance that properly on Hive.
Thank you very much! Thanks for the warm welcome and the tips! 🍕🙌
That's the worst thing you can do on Hive. No one is interested in rephrased AI content.
Posting on Hive is not mandatory. If you have anything to write about, post it. If not, your time will be better spent elsewhere, where you can post anything without restrictions. Rewards are for those who post original content and make an effort. Rewriting AI content is frowned upon and it's the fastest way to get blacklisted.
Have a nice day.
I now understand how it works around here. I look forward to writing original content.
