My Eclipse. The Lunar. [Contest ENTRY]

My fascination with street lamps brought me back to the Shadow Hunters Contest, now in its 438th edition. My last entry was also a street lamp, quite a while ago 😒 I hope @melinda010100 will forgive me 🙏

I confess that this is a lazy post. Lazy in the sense that it took no effort at all to make, cost me nothing, and I didn’t have to go anywhere. The idea for the post came to me while I was watching a (stationary) streetlamp and its (moving) shadows—on my balcony, while smoking my first cigarette of the day.

As I watched the shadows shift, and on the day of the much-hyped solar eclipse, I decided to do the opposite—a lunar eclipse.

I had to wait patiently for the middle shadow (the Moon) to align with the right lamp (the Sun). That would be the Momentum. It wasn’t a total eclipse, to be sure, all because of my location. I needed to be another meter and a half to the left and down, but the problem is that I live on the sixth floor. That was my limit; that was the best eclipse I could get.

Streetlights are urban objects that, during the day, serve only to cast shadows. They have no other function—though perhaps they also serve as elements of urban design, when designed for that purpose. Only at night do they take center stage, illuminating our path.
