Blockchain vs childhood cancer.
Three minutes. In the world, every three minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. Those three minutes between one diagnosis and the following one are our chance to speak up and do something for our children. I believe that sometimes three minutes are enough to inspire someone, enough to learn something new, enough to take the decision to be part of a solution.
Many developing countries have the childhood cancer survival rates that the most developed countries had in 1950. I run a public health foundation that raises awareness on chronic diseases, cancer included. One of my life objectives is to actively contribute to increasing the survival rates of children with cancer in the developing world. My foundation is eager to support creative initiatives that can harness the power of blockchain to improve the way countries, institutions, companies and NGOs cooperate and share information on childhood cancer research, diagnosis and treatment.
This year my foundation is training 55,000 professors in Mexico on early detection of childhood cancer. Last year we shared valuable early detection info with 8.5 million people. Next year we want to create an international research platform upon which thousands of institutions can share information and collaborate more effectively to increase the survival rates of diagnosed children around the world.
Do you know of any blockchain project that addresses public health issues? Do you know of any blockchain application that could be applied to support cancer research? Do you know anyone working on blockchain-based platforms that could be applied to help foundations, hospitals and countries cooperate more effectively to improve the survival rates in the developing world? The challenge is immense, but I am sure that the Steemit community can come up with some ideas. Your input is so valuable, please comment bellow.

the cure for cancer is illegal in most places... not good for profit margins

It is indeed a horror. I have witnessed too. That is why I am convinced that we need to think outside the box and use technology and ur imagination to come up with creative solutions for this terrible illness. I appreaciate your comment very much. We must keep fighting for children's health.

Imagine now, that in the developping countries only around 55% survives. The challenge ahead is immense, so we must be creative. I think that the Steemit community has so much to bring to the conversation in this matter.

My sister died of cancer at the age of 16. She was turning 17 two months before she died. It was said to have been developed on an early age but the syptomns are not that visible so we never suspected her of having cancer.

What type of cancer was it? In some cases the symptoms are very visible and in others they are just very hard to identify. At my foundation I have witnessed many cases, and even when I am so close and involved it is hard to imagine the pain the family actually feels. There is still so much to be done. In the developping world the survival rates are what in Europe and the US were in 1950. There are so many lives to save with early detection (when possible) and with better care and monitoring.
My sister had alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
