That's a great idea @damarth, there so many poor people in the world today. As statistics shows, 80%of the world population live on less than $10 daily. I am happy that finally soneone is looking into the affairs of humanity. Its a great one!

I would like to share one meal a day to the street kids here outside our house. I was doing it during my birthday last January. We gave a pack of spaghetti and a bread.

Last month I can contribute some of my wealth to desolate peoples to share meals. Its only little bit person. But I was glad coz why I help another desolate peoples to give meals for solve their famine problem. I walked into my classroom after I had come in from lunch. I sat down on the floor where everyone else was sitting. I sat next to my best friend Jessica. My teacher looked me in the eye in the way that he wanted to speak to me or ask me a question. And then he said “Chloe, did you watch the news last night” I answered “Yes a bit of it, why?” My teacher replied “Did you see the report about the poor people?” “No” I said to him, confused. “Ok, then I will play it” My teacher turned on our class T.V.

The news reporter said “Have you ever thought to yourself what the people in the poor countries are doing right now? I can tell you. They are dying from hunger every 5 seconds! A lot of families are trying to help. But if YOU help them it will make a very big difference. Even if you send a few dollars every week.”

“Well, there was a family that wasnt very wealthy at all! They only had a little bit of shelter and only a little bit of food and water. Every day the Daughter would go and fetch some water from the lake. The eldest son went with his Dad to learn how to kill animals with a bow and arrow or a spear. The Mum collected twigs and bamboo with her 3 year old child and took them to her home where she made them into blankets to sleep with, and mats to sit on. She also made some extra ones to sell. They didnt have very much, but all that changed when a very kind family helped them. They supplied them with better shelter, food and water, warm and cosy blankets, some mattresses and some furniture. The family was so grateful for what they had done! For the rest of their lives they had enough food and water, all because of one family!”

This is great of you @damarth. You always have a way of putting smile on people's face. Before I came on Steemit some weeks ago I was struggling to take care of myself but now at least I can afford a meal a day.
Since I have come to Steemit, with the little I have I can buy my own meal, but I could like to help this poor little children around me. Some of them comes to school with empty stomach, torn out clothes, unkempt hair. If wish to help them and with my stay here on Steemit, I'll help them in every small way I can.

When I was a teacher, I use to frown at fellow teachers who beat children who came to school without brushing their mouth. I think we as teachers should show small love by buying tooth brush and tooth paste to those children and see if they will still come to school without brushing. This little act of kindness will make the world go round. Thank you @damarth

I agreed with you and the new concept you raised here is really remarkable and brand new which helps numbers of steeminas in their lives. They can get one meal a day if they are really want if they are poor. No doubt, there are numbers of people can be greedy and needy as well. Choose what you think they deserve. :)

Honestly speaking, I eat meal two times a day which is not a rich food but I can feed my tummy with it and I'm with it that GOD gives us what we need to eat a day to maintain our digestive system and body to work more to do hard work and to live happily for my family who needs my support because my father is retired now so I'm one who have to work hard to feed other siblings and parents.

I also have a strong reason to participate in it because near to my house many people are beggars and always come to my home to ask money and food. I will give them too

Poverty does not only exist on thirdworld country but it exists everywhere because those that have more, want more and those that have not, don't have the knowledge and education, the opportunities or the help needed to climb out of the pit of poverty. Also, some don't have the attitutude or the motivation to try. I grew up in a very small community in the Philippines. We knew we didn't have a lot of things, we knew we couldn't have everything we wanted or needed, but until moving to Cebu at age 7, I didn't know we were poor. I thought everyone lived by the crops they grew, animals they raised and other things they worked or traded for. Some people do not believe they are poor because they have what they need to survive and feel that that is enough. Besides the rich keep getting richer and want to take it with them or give it to their kids who won't appreciate it and/or don't deserve it. And I would rather have my soul than sell it for wealth and power.
we just need to focus into our goals in life and give everything to it.. Our best, sweat, time, love and attitude. :')

Yes I am willing to participate.
To be sincere, I have a plan of organising something like this soon.

I come from a country (Nigeria) where a lot of persons live in abject poverty.

This is my plan

1. To use my steemit earnings and pay school fees of some bright students in selected schools.

2. To organise a programme where follow steemians in my community can contribute from part of earnings to run a school feeding programme. I'm really working towards this and we'll start it soon.

For me, it's not all about self happiness, food, fun etc. It is about touching lives and putting smiles on others people's faces. That's what gives me joy and doing this for school children is my dreams and I pray I achieve it perfectly.

They guy above is right. I am from Nigeria and there is truth in everything he said. Minimum wage is #18,000 naira (local currency) and you see legislators pocket millions in naira just for sitting allowance. They earn more than the president of United States if we put all their allowances and salaries. This is gross inequality and it keeps getting worse because complains hasn't changed these people. They just don't care about the masses. You see them only active during election periods by giving people stomach infrastructure and i will post on that soon enough though.

I thank God for Steemit, i can afford a meal a day and even more and by His help, i have been able to put smiles on other people's faces. So, i won't come here to lie, but i really can afford twice a meal a day and i would love to do more for people around me in giving of food and relief materials.
In my neighbourhood there are so many little kids not going to school, all they do is hawk. It is pathetic and child abuse. I really hope to be able to get one at least for now under my wings and get through to school and with more help later on, the numbers can increase.

There was a trash man who came everyday to her home and picked the trash and all the very dirty garbage. Everyday he worked hard and collected money, everyday now and then work work work... Then, after many years of hard work he became rich, bought a nice house and a limo.... But... his limo contained a broom hanging on it's bumper. Everyday, when he went to the city, people asked him,"Are you mad? you have placed a broom on your luxurious limo?Duh." And everyday he replied,"I placed a broom on the bumper so that I could always remember that I was once a garbage man and that I should not have pride over my wealth and prosperity".. People became amazed...

They don’t have, I don’t know where’s their house. Some of them usually hangout at the corner of our street. It’s near the main road and a traffic light. When the light stops, they beg.

It's a great initiative for uplifting and for the betterment of the society. There are a lot of homeless and poor people around and we should help those who can not help themselves and also we must find possible ways to help them. We all know that time always change. We could be in their place someday sometime. A positive attitude and an affectionate approach will aid in making the world what we desire it to be.

Wow this is more than great initiative!!

There is a problem because most of the people who don't have food on the table don't have a computer either. I don't talk about western poor people who have car, but no for fuel or who first buy branded cloth but then dont have money for food.

Local communities could help for those who don't have for food, they could provide place like libary where people can make their steemit account and be able to receive help.

It's just a thought.

In my country, many people are looking for good food but they can't get for themselves because they dont have enough money to get rid out of it. I'm also suffering from the same condition but still I get food for a day and em happy with it.

I believe in what you are doing @damarth. The world is not gonna chanage all by itself if the people living there in aren't willing to do anything about it. The system on it's own is incapable of changing all by itself. Therefore it is left to us to do somthing about it or we'll keep moving in a vicious cycle. I am solidly behind you.

Think how many peoples had without deserve facilities. Why some peoples selfish? For me I ready to help another poor peoples included children if i have ability.

Even though my steem power and influence is quite low I would still use the little I have to generate funds for the people. I want to see a Nigeria where every children can go to school and not beg on the streets because of the corrupt government officials.

This initiative is for the poor and the poor should benefit but how do we get to know the poor? Does the poor have access to Internet connection? Does the poor have money to buy data to steem? Somehow I feel those who need this arnt here on steemit but I may be wrong.

I just feel you may end up giving this charity to those who already have enough and are greedy. I would want to participate if I am greedy but I am not, the world needs something better than greedy people so I will just sit and watch the deserving get all the assistance they need.

Really, this is a good intention, but am a little bit unconfortable with it. Please don't get me wrong, it is good to be of help to the needy. My fear, Humans nature are deceptive sometime, I pray this opportunity will not be abused by some greedy people.Anyways, it is a nice concept if people will not abuse the opportunity.

This initiative is wonderful. We need each other to end this plague called famine and steemit could raise a voice in the cryptosphere that will resound and make positive impact in our world. If we design a website in such a way it is affiliated to amazon and some other online shopping 🛒 sites . If all the people of the community buy things from that website , we can generate the affiliate money and we can serve to the poor people who do not have one meal a day . This idea is mine and striked when I saw hunger death in my country . Hope the idea can be worked out with some determined people .

This is really great @damarth i am so happy to discover steemit which has been a source of help to my financial struggle. I am young and unmarried but i have a family to take care of, and gladly when i felt all roads were blocked, i discovered steemit, at first it sounded too good to be true but here i am today, free from financial struggle. I discovered steemit last October approved last November and made a decent post this month. My friend told me @jacinta.sevilla that it can be possible to achieve happiness, fullfillment and financial freedom in this community. She mostly make some artworks, deep and detailed ones. As a teacher, being paid like thrice than the minimum wage but I cant even save a penny nor spoil myself a decent double shot espresso at a local coffee shop. All of my salary goes to my debts. I got a car accident last 2016 and a major cyst operation. I spent 2017 paying my debts. I startting to ask myself if am I unlucky or just ungrateful. Everything is routinary. Safe yet boring. Nothing motivates me waking up from my bed. I wear a decent uniform but I walk without dignity. I love teaching but I fell harder on arts. Since during in childhood it was my firstlove. Parents told me to secure something on your plate rather than your emotions. People see art just a way to express. But for me art is everything and art is everywhere. One of my post earned around 70 sbd . In the place where I leave it cant even earn a dollar. Steemit made me HUMAN again. Now I am decided to persue my passion into action. I am forever grateful to steemit and its supportive community. Might quit my job and try to live more.

Unfortunately, what you say is true. The world is a ruthless place. A lot of people are hungry. Some people are adding fortune to their wealth. Politicians talk about the per capita income. Is this ridiculous because there are so many poor people there are so many per capita income? Why do people keep being selfish? A shoe, an hour, why a shoe is paid so high. That money is spent on the annual dinner requirement of 10 people in Africa. Syrian people fleeing from war. The world keeps turning while starving. This is not really just. This world is really a ruthless and unjust place. @longfourd brother wishes your wishes happen. You can help people. I hope everyone can get this up to you.

Wow.... This is a challenge and i'll love to participate in this. I am in Lagos, Nigeria and we have so many people, especially little children roaming about on the streets, some begging for food, some drinking and smoking.

Well its a great initiative... By Gods Grace we have enough to feed ourselves and feed others who don't have money for meal.. We continue giving away meals to poor people... But I guess the people who don't have money to eat don't have internet access either. In fact about 40% of population of Pakistan consists of people who don't have money for meal...

That's a great idea @damarth, there so many poor people in the world today.The steemit ecosystem is a great place to be in. I haven't seen a platform that brings the world together. Different people from different races have come together for the growth of this community.

You have always been the top rewarder and encourager, I was nearly in tears reading that guys testament and testimony, well the world is such a small place and steemit had made it smaller.

With loads of love from people like you loads of support and many have escaped the pangs of poverty infact many homes and poor countries have enjoyed the benevolence of this platform.

As for me, been struggling hard to pay my bills in college, don't dropped out for a year, it was hard, this time it's better, I have quite enough to pay here.

The internally displaced people that have trooped into the capital city of Nigeria, Abuja, because of the insurgency in the North are not so lucky.

To contribute my quota, I help by giving alms when I can. The truth is that the economic situation in Nigeria is not friendly and everybody is struggling.

This is a really nice initiative @damarth . I was priviledged to be part of a project in 2016 that help feed homeless children on the streets and this was a really great initiative as we could all see the joy on their faces. Some could not express their gratitude in words but I could see the burdens that we lifted off their shoulders by just providing a meal for these people. From the pregnant mothers to the little children, everyone was able to benefit in one way or another. I most definitely would love to do something like that this year as there is no end to charitable works. We all need each other to survive and I am in full support of this "a meal a day" project. Nothing trumps genuine charity and care. The world is not a very good place but if we try in our little capacities then I am sure we can make a difference..

Great initiatives to help people in need @damarth. Respect you for that. But how can we know whether we are helping genuine people? There may be people writing fake comments just to make quick bucks.
We can start by spreading and empowering all the Steemians so that they can help each other and also help others. My point of view about Powering up on Steemit and how we can help ourselves and others and also help the platform grow.

You saw the post and felt for him, but we grew up together as best of friends. Lol you could imagine how I would feel and how I have always felt. Not just a one day feelings but it’s just a daily routine.
This guy is an amazing fellow and a strong man, a man who never gives up in anything he’s doing.
I believe I can tell you more about him because he’s my brother from another mother.
This is a guy we both strive together even when my father ran and left my mom as I said in the earlier comments before, this man never stops encouraging me. Even with his hard condition he was going through.
But today am happy he’s living a happy life.
And if he’ll permit me to say this, a major contributor to his life today is steemit.

Steemit change my fate too!

Before starting my story, I would like to introduce myself first. I am degree student which taking Economics course at local university(Sg) currently. Before I knew Steemit, I was about to stop studying my degree and go for a work in order to pay my school fees.

Luckily, I discovered Steemit on Jun last year and start blogging. I start to earn money myself when I am studying. As time goes on, I was able to make a few thousand bucks and I changed my mind. I am not going to work anymore, because Steemit provides me an awesome platform to earn some money after school!

I am so appreciate to Steemit as it totolly changed my fate!

Wow. This is really a great idea. I have always wanted to do this especially for those women whose husbands have eloped leaving them helpless; with kids to fend for and no job at hand....

Unfortunately, I sincerely don't know where to even start from.

Telling them to join steemit isn't an option either because they don't even have phones talk more of having access to the internet...

At this point, its more like my heart eats me up seeing them on the streets begging...

For these kind of people..
A meal a day would go a long way to help but then another question comes up...

For how long will they depend on the "meal-a-day"..

The perfect solution would've been the government creating jobs for these kinds. Sadly, the nation is not even health enough to stand on it's own....

But we are still hoping for the best and hoping for a change especially to the hungry children on the streets...

I've read @lagford full commentary, when he commented your post. I always objective to inequality. We all are humans. Why so humans divided both parties of rich and poor. Any time to spend for poorer to help them. They want to basically foods, sanitary facilities, if kids- school bags, books, pencils etc... If nations join together under the one organization we can change the world seriously. I have no longer wealth facility. But I gave only 05 kids choosing any year to share books, pens, bags and other necessary things. Its really happy to me. Thanks for giving me opportunity here.

When I saw this post, I remembered some of the kids I helped back then in southern Kaduna. These kids are from a very poor background and they lack help. It's like the world abandoned them.

I did the best I could do for them. They didn't have a teacher or a good school for learning, so most of them do not know how to communicate in English. They are living a jungle life, a life of hardship.

I ensured that I gave them the best I could to ensure they had a memorable Christmas and New year celebration. I still think of them and plan to go back there to help a few of them someday.

Thank you @damarth for the opportunity to help our world. So many people are really suffering in several parts of the world. The rich keep opressing the poor. No one wants to help anyone. We must do all we can to end this. I will do my best to support this initiative in helping as many steemians as possible. Thanks for this once again.

This platform is indeed this kind of first rate opportunity! It adjustments many peoples life absolutely, by way of giving them the change to help their studies or just giving them a way to specific themself!
beautiful minds have become connected with each other and share the love, joy and happiness. The fine vibes are anywhere around. i've seen agencies of steemians together, and it's far barely feasible to peer them greater enthusiastic about some thing else than steemit! I sense this may be my blessing of 2018, our blessing.

This is a nice initiative by @damarth which i expect everyone to be sincere with.

Of course, i don't give out food or meal but i prefer to take them to an eatery and pay for their meal. I did this while i had a short stay in the northern part of nigeria where i had to take this hausa kids (Almajiri) to a food joint and pay their bill.

Another one i am embarking upon today is giving out those cloth am not wearing again. This is the little i felt i can be of help to those needy (kids) around me here for now.

This has being a gesture i and my family have received from others before, though things are not yet as expected but we can boost of the normal square meal and wear therefore, it is a thing of joy giving back to the society whenever it is available and necessary.

In Benin city where I school, I will like to help the kids that roam the city's ring road. There are lots of kids that can be found there by the roadside in tattered clothes, begging and holding unto strangers until they give them mere change or send them away forcefully.
It is really sad and depressing when I see this and sometimes or most times I wish I could do more for them if I had the opportunity.
One time, an NGO I am a part of took it upon ourselves to feed some of them but limited by resources and funds, the food could not go round and they ended up fighting for it. While this is a sad and depressing event, it happens so very frequently.
So I just want to say in conclusion that I would if given the opportunity use half of the sbd won to feed the kids

You know i also belonged to a poor family .We are 5 sisiters and we have no brother and in our culture its so difficult without having brother.My father was a govt servant .He didn't earn that much and we have faced a very difficult time.But my father gave us education.There are times when we have no money to pay school fee but thanks God that hard time passed.Now we all sisters are educated and now atleast we can live a better life than before :) The one who faced poverty problems only those know the feelings of poor :) You are doing a great work .I wish i would be able to help steemian community but i am newbie but i used to help a little bit which i can:)

But she was told to get some antibiotics in the hospital,though i have given her part of the money but she still need more. My intention was to post about her in order to raise some money for her. Steemit has become a tool for change. The lives of many will be affected through this great initiative from @damarth .. There are lots of steemians from countries like Nigeria, Phillipines and venezuela amognst others and these countries are plagued with poverty and bad leadership. Steemit has become a source of livelihood and a new community that bonds us together.. We will continue to fight the good fight. A meal a day is a good initiative and this will put smiles to the face of many.

It's so sad that most of the less priviledged out there that are hungry don't have internet and therefore can't be a part of the online steemit community but still we can reach out to them. Someone that cannot feed most likely won't be able to buy mobile phones or PCs to access the internet and most of them are illiterates too.. We hope this becomes a long term vision and in time we will be able to set up different steemit hubs in different locations for these people to come and use the internet for free and also have trainers that will educate them on how to use it .

With the right support all these things are possible. Let's start helping ourselves if the government can't help us

This is really awesome @damarth its really pathetic how the world today face a donside as a result of no food. Now this fact is not just looking for shelter but a meal to eat because most peole feel that its not lack of a good shelter thats included in basic amenities of life but just food alone why because of the nation he or she is located. My country Nigeria as a case study,go to charity homes what is brought there is 99% food stuff why because they know thats the mindset of every infant children living below the standard of life,you cant give what is not needed,now we are encouraged to go back to agriculture because the nations is going down in the aspect of food,why because the necessary thing has been left out for years now it has come back to bite those beneath the hierarchy of people in the country. I would like to share one meal a day too with the people that are less privilege and the kids at motherless home and I will start any moment I get good job and I'll make the special one on my birthday which is 3rd of March by inviting everybody to my home and prepare special meal
I'll also invite people to steemit to meet kind people like you. Together we can stop poverty

This is so interesting! When we all talk about less priviledge, we forget to add the deaf and dumb as one. How do this people cope with the fact that they cannot communictae with everybody, just to few of us that understand sign language. Sign language is a language the deaf and dumb use in communicating with one another. I have them a lot in my church and I help in signing whatever activities going on in church. I realised these people have good phones that can browse, so I decided to introduce the steemit community to them especially to those ,young ones that are learned to also take a good advantage of the platform.

I knew how hard it was for me before I joined steemit, and now steemit is helping financially and they are much less priviledge, so joining the steemit community will help in transforming their lives financially without having to communicate with sounds. Steemit has realy helped in changing lives. For few months now, my aunt I stay with has been at home because the government of our country refused to pay them their salaries and it going to half a year, how should we have coped with food and all that if steemit was not there? How would my academics be? Would I even have transport to take lectures?

Just recently I saw a man in my state here PorttHarcourt, Nigeria who was begging passersby for alms as I and my guys were buying a phone case. This man was being neglected by these passers-by as if he did not exist. I got so move by the scenario that I had to walk up to him and give him some money. I could only imagine how much he is suffering not to be a able to fend for himself. He seemed to be a bit mentally unstable though and as dirty-looking as he was the smile he gave me, I knew it was from his heart and that made me feel a way I have never felt before like I have save a life and truly I did
This was not the only case scenario I have seen. There are many others who move around in my state, Port Harcourt without even the means to get this money to sustain a one day meal

I believe in this quote and that is why I have always helped as many people as I see with the the little I have. I may only be able to do little as a student but I hope to open a foundation sole for the less privileged the moment I graduate as a medical doctor. I hope to be able to provide the basic need of the needy through this my foundation such as

• clothing
• health care [a majority]
• food
• shelter
• and so many more.
  The condition of these less privileged ones in my country is very bad and as a philanthropist I wish to do something about it.

Am a Nigerian by birth, i am a living testimony to the daily struggle and survival for food.....every day thousands of people are dieing of hunger, nigeria is a blessed country with so many mineral resources yet the standard of living is going from bad to worst, 5 year's ago the prices of fuel was #65 naria, but today the price #260...

Education is now made for the rich, as a poor man can not afford to pay his fee's, the minimum wage is #18,000 naria and the standard of living and the hiking of price is 2x greater than the minimum wage.

When i was growing up as a kid with my siblings, life was like hell, we have to work (haking) and even beg before we eat,we where raised by my mother as my father travelled to another state within the country to search for better life for us.

I thank God for steemit which has changed my story around, am still a newbies anyway but i know i have lot to learn and lifes to change, happiness is found in giving.

I have a vision to transfer the lifes of others and help my brothers and sisters who are still in the streets hustling to survive, i believe that steemit would feed the world.

My neighbor's daughter is 8 years old. She's dead, he's a single dad. The girl is very flexible, kind, responsive. But it will be a lifetime to undergo chemotherapy because her mother was infected with HIV infection. The girl does not know about her illness, thinking that 2 times a day takes vitamins. I was upset when I found out about her illness. But don't stop to chat. I allow to come and visit us, play with my daughter. Of course I have good hygiene and her family. We're on the street, in a cafe. I don't want her childhood ended early because of illness. After all, when she finds out about his HIV status a part of her world will collapse. She has a very caring father. who plays with her everywhere, she does not deny. He's not sick. Her mother died when she was 5 years old and my father took her in. When he took learned about the disease, as they divorced long ago. Such children should not be deprived, because they don't do nothing.

Living with a family has thought me lessons,I have understood that the little we have put together can go a long way I helping each our lives.my family is not by blood our birth but we are all students struggling to ensure that the situation we find ourselves does not affect our common goal in achieving educational success we have bonded through the overcoming of similar trials and tribulations and have become a single unit in which our problems are shared and our victories shared

Unfortunately corruption is rampant, the world over. I am afraid with power comes corruption. The sad thing is in Africa, where I come from - you would think that politicians would be more humble and empathetic , towards the poor and suffering people - but as soon as they come to power....corruption wins!

I'm really grateful for this opportunity, nothing brings happiness and satisfaction than helping others, currently, I took up the role of providing lunch for primary school pupils in my community because teachers complained that some of the school children go to school with an empty stomach, and they have recorded a large number of children fainting in school because of hunger, I'm a student too so I know what they go through.
So with the little income I make from being a sales girl, I provide lunch for the children once a week, and I pray my income increases so I can provide something more than this.

I'M HELPING THE AFRICAN CHILD IN MY OWN LITTLE WAY

This is a great agenda.. Let us all put smile on the faces of the hopeless. I just sincerely hope people will be honest and not misuse this oppurtunity so we can truly affect the lives of those that need it. Steemit is really a community that promotes love and oneness..

Going full time steemian here! I really think we could be changing the world with steemit thats why i decided to go full time and give this more time so that i con do it properly.

Yes, that is a good idea. For example on a road to my previous job, i was passing by a homeless shelter. I have often stopped and give something to them, mostly mine or my friends cloth wich we don't use anymore.
But it would be great to go there and help them make Steemit account. I will think about that idea.

I know a couple of kids in my street that don't have parents. Every morning before I go to school, I make sure to take extra food from my house without the consent of my parents and give to them just so they can eat. Sometimes I take the clothes my younger siblings do not use any longer and give it to them, because they always wear rags.
This would be a prime opportunity to help them the more and to improve how they live.
I hope steemit can help me in order to help them.

Now he sings every week and has got finally a good phone and some cool wears lol. My point, the fact that he was appreciated in text and cryptos was a driving force to this boy's commitment to creativity. In the year 2017 ago I get a little sustenance from God. And the sustenance can not afford to enjoy myself even though it's just a little bit, because with me seeing there are many more families who are starving and needing food and that person can not afford to buy rice or cook food Because the person does not have anything good that in terms of money or other, I was so sad to see that person and then touched my heart to take sustenance which was given to me is in by God to donate to those who are hungry and in dire need, after I donate a part of so many of me then also I have dinner with them because I think that person is eager to enjoy a very happy togetherness with dinner together. There is an issue in light of the fact that the vast majority of the general population who don't have nourishment on the table don't have a PC either. I don't discuss western needy individuals who have auto, yet no for fuel or who first purchase marked material yet then dont have cash for nourishment.

Neighborhood people group could help for the individuals who don't have for nourishment, they could give put like libary where individuals can make their steemit account and have the capacity to get help.
It's only an idea.

Nice initiative there @Damarth, the world could definitely use more people who think with their heart rather than their wallet. I'm a skeptic at heart and throughout my life I haven't really done much for anyone but myself. A few years ago a lot of things changed in my life and I've now had the pleasure of giving a bit back to those who needs it, both through supporting various help groups but also through volunteer work in the Philippines with @iwanderela.
Recently I had an interaction with @sharonomics that opened my eyes to what I can do on steemit to help other steemians out. I don't have a huge SP yet or a lot of followers that I can resteem to but I've put up a giveaway to share whatever I got with someone who needs it.
I know it's not close to feeding a hungry soul in the real world, but taking baby steps here, it'll come :)

As for me, I can afford for my self one meal a day and I can even afford to help some people out wit a meal a day which I'm doing in my own little way.

I'm from Nigeria where the level of poverty is high and so many people dying of hunger because they cannot have one meal a day. The government of my country started a program sometime a to feed the school children one meal a day but due to the high level of corruption, the program is not functional any more.

In my own little way I've committed myself to helping people in need around me by helping them with food and clothing. I even have some I help out in paying their school fees.

These people are not yet on steemit because some of them cannot even use the internet. And the ones that can use internet don't have a device to access the internet. I've already told them all about steemit and we are working on getting a device for them. That is also one of the reasons I'm working hard to get to the top and gather enough steem power before they join so that I can help them better when they join.

Thanks for doing this and I want everyone to embrace this campaign of one meal a day

I also want to do lot of for the people of my area, actually I am from India, at north eastern state Assam. I had already donated some of my earnings for the victims of floods specialy for women and children. With the help of veturn steemians such as @kafkanarchy @realpoul @exyle @Firepower I had already organised my food distribution program which I had posted on my blog in the month of August. I would love to start off by thanking @damarth for this initiative,i heard of this, of how you sir @damarth, tries to be a great blessing to numerous amounts of people every single day that passes by. You are a true leader and not a boss. May God greatly bless you for trying to contribute help towards humanity. It is a great thing that you noticed the need for provision of at least, one-meal per day to ensure the survival of people in various nations of the world.
In my home nation of Nigeria, the case is a heart-shattering one. Where the system is failing to recognize the need to help and feed the great number of children and youths.
Children in nigeria can hardly get access to adequate meals, or good sound education. For the case of feeding, the parents of the children that are in charge of feeding them do not even have the money to do so.
I would love to share a short story about my neigbours whose story is a very sad one. Their father died when they were very young. The weight of caring for the family has been on the shoulders of their mother ever since,and she was a just a secondary school teacher. Now, anyone in nigeria will know how bad the teaching profession has become; a profession that once used to be the very pride of the nation has now turned into a profession of misery. She was a teacher of a government owned public school, where her salary was just #30,000naira. Their house rent was about #15,000naira and rising. Doing the math, you'd know that their standard of living was very terrible. She would always go to different homes and help them wash their bathrooms and toilets just for her to get enough money to feed her children. Most of the time, my mother would split our meals at home and give them 70% of the mea, just to help them.
The government school's job was so terrible that they,ll even owe her for close to 6months. The system here is terrible.
The bridge between the poor and the rich here is mind boggling. Like the woman in the story, most people can't feed nor attend schools.
The rich just keep getting richer, gathering all of the money meant for the betterment of the people, and putting it all in their pockets.
Our hope for a better tomorrow in this country-Nigeria; are the youths of this time, but the state of schools in nigeria is heart breaking, children like my neigbours don't even have food to eat so as to even have the energy to attend classes and build their futures.
I took a trip to the state of kaduna-here in nigeria to see their classrooms, and i cried. I went on my knees and prayed to God to provide a means for me to help better the lives of the people around me.
The chairs they had to seat on were all broken and dilapidated,and the school uniforms they were putting on were all torn.
After that day, i went to back home to think on how to help the students attending the government school in my area. They also have torn, ripped school uniforms. I have been reflecting and thinking hard on how i can use this platform - steemit; to provide the materials needed to make good school uniforms for the students, and get a list of the children who have just one parent caring for them. I am hoping that i could start off something here on steemit and be able to create enough awareness about this issue and try my very possible best to provide food for their families, so that they can have a better life.

@damarth, your writeup has made me emotional and reawakened my vision plus encouraged me that i am not alone. I visit orphanage homes a lot as well as school for the hndicapped. Recently, i visited a Juvenile Remand Home in Ilorin, Nigeria where i went to arrange a once in a week meeting with the inmates.

The truth is, there is so much we can do to bring food to tables. We can also create seminars and empower people with skills and if possible, create an establishment where the best participant is employed. So much can be done

As a student in Nigeria, many would agree with me that it is not easy, most especially those that came from a poor back ground..

I could remember when I had no money, no food stuff in school in my 2nd semester, 1st year, i called my people, they told me to wait but i was starving.... Then i asked a friend to help me out and he said, if only i could wait that his next pay out would be in 2days, that was like forever to me but I was patient, and after 2 days (in the evening to be precise) he lent me 3k out of the 15k he cashed out then which i used to prepare a meal... I was so grateful and he told me about how steemit was helping him but i had no option then since i didnt have a good browsing phone but thank God i do now.. Men, during that period, i felt what hunger really was.. And i must confess it wasnt a good experience.. So i really know what those who dnt even have a meal a day are going through and i would love to help in any way with the upvote u give me.
I really havebplans of helping people on the streets if i make it big on steemit.. And i pray it comes to pass.

Great idea @damarth! Well, I have made a plan to help the needy people a long time ago, when I was in grade 9th (after getting a job). I still haven't job but am happy to find this platform which provides great opportunities to everyone. In Sha Allah, when am able to earn money then I will definitely going to donate money to needy people.

I believe strongly in this initiative of one meal a day. So many lack the inner strength to fulfill their dreams because of hunger. The global economic recession has made situation much worse. We now have a larger percentage of the world population living on less than $1 per day. This initiative will be a right move in the right direction.

@damarth, what an awesome initiative. Fantastic to see someone on here with power using it for good. I had a conversation recently with a girl who wants to start a flu-drive on steemit to provide basic medicine for people getting sick over winter who can't afford to pay for it. The steem condition is an amazing spot to be in. I haven't seen a phase that joins the world. Different people from different races have gotten together for the advancement of this gathering.

I have to continue with this, deplorably, I can't take photography that moment coz they didn't look before the camera. This little exhibit of liberality will influence life as we to know it conceivable. Thankful to you.

Personally, I grew up on the ghetto side and trust me when I say obtaining meals were an issue. I never knew how bad things were till I came of age. I was really thinking of how to help my family survive coupled with the recession when I was told about steemit. I may not have earned so much but the income I've gotten so far has helped me survive and helped my little sister. We (my little group) is planning on a secondary school outreach in March and prison outreach too. We're trying to raise the money, we hope to meet basic needs and I'm hoping to make little income from this platform to support this movement.
We may never know what people go through until we've passed through the path they're passing through.
@damarth, what more can I say? I'm glad this burning desire to help afford one meal per day for someone is also found in good people like you. We may not be able to change all that's happening in our today, but we can do the little we can. Therein lies the change and impact we seek.

I can see the potential for this to grow and be very rewarding to the hearts and souls of those doing the giving, & it would be life changing for the person being helped! I live in the Dallas, Tx- by no means is it like many of our poorer countries who live in extreme poverty, & it is hearbreaking to think of anyone not being able to eat especially a child! Where I live we have tons of homeless, under every bridge in downtown, we even have an area named tent city that is under several bridges and the city of Dallas closed it down last yr leaving the homeles families who lost their jobs, homes due to many different circumstances, ended up divorced & with nothing, were released from the military and had nowhere to go, military veterans that served our country people from all walks of life- took away all they had to call home or a commumity ...just because people in power with money felt that they we're creating an eyesore and a nuisance for everyday people or people who chose to visit Dallas or vacation here, our shelters are too full and there's nowhere for them to go- so our homeless lost all- in the last months they have set up in other areas and we have a new "tent city" the homeless people actually go out of their way to keep it clean and try not to draw attention to themselves so they are not "evicted" per say, yet again..when they have nothing more than a tarp on string to call home...myself and my husband and kids donate anything we can from our home,or thrift store or things donated by family or friends- be it blankets, coats clothes etc....whenever we can..I make a point to buy or make food for whoever I can that is waiting outside the whataburger, or underpasses down the street from my work 3 nights a wk, my manager also feeds them if they come into the steakhouse and ask for food, I take my kids and let them donate toys & clothes that they pick out themselves from their own stuff so they can see the importance of helping other children, & how very fortunate they are, we go pick up pizzas and drop them off...it is not a lot but we are only one small family and we do what we can, because prior to having our kids about 15 yrs ago myself and my husband had to live in our car for a couple months because his job closed down and we couldnt make it..he got a new job and we saved until we could put our incomes together to get a place again, but in the mean time we still had our carpayment and insurance and phones and other bills so we couldnt waste money on hotels it was unrealistic- but we came up and then got pregnant with our son and since then every yr life gets a little better! we now have 3 kids and we both work and have 2 cars and all the bills that come along with a family and a house, we have gotten better at saving and are so happy to have survived our struggles, but it humbled us, helped us realise what was most important & made us appreciate everything- it is not something we ever thought would happen to us but bam! It did! If more people came together and just helped 1 homeless family a day can you imagine the difference it would create- I am not saying it will change the world but it will sure help make it a better one! I love this idea, I see some people questioning how they will know if it is going to the right place or cause- this is one of those times you just have to do it it out of the goodness of your heart and hope the reciever is a true humanitarian! All good things come back to you! As long as you do it for the right reasons! I dont need meals or help- I just wanted to share my views/story and what we do to help, and just add that I love how this platform brings the world together...I love it! Surprises me daily!

What I adore, I don't know today. I don't have any desire or not. It is astounding that occasionally, when I wake up in the profound night, I hear the voice of the stunning, I see the legendary scene. End the quiet of the night and thunder in my ears, There is no ocean on the back.

@damarth, I must appreciate your efforts thus far. There's a "sponsor a meal 🥘 for a child" campaign currently being run by the inner city mission of Christ Embassy, also a back to school campaign for indigent kids in the inner cities of Africa which I'm part of. In the light of the idea 💡 of taking advantage of steemit to help reduce/alleviate poverty, it'll be nice if a dedicated steemit page is set up for this course. There can be dedicated pages per continent/per country as well. Proceeds from upvotes on these pages can then be used to help the needy. Aparently, majority of folks who need this "a meal a day" help aren't on steemit, hence, the need for the campaign to be taken to their door steps whilst Steemit is being promoted. This way their bodies are fed but their minds are not left out. Like I commented on your last post, the renewal/education of the mind is very key in poverty alleviation.

i couldnt agree less with this post, thank you so much @damarth you are really doing alot to help the poor with your upvote. The poverty in where i stay is so severe that most people live on less than 2USD per day. Food is really a problem for so many people i tried to help as much as i can. But its so sad that i myself dont have enough. But having people like you gives me hope. I have invited many of my friend to join steemit so that they can generate some funds but electricity and internet has been a problem. I have resteemed this post so more people that need help can get an upvote from you .

Blockchain is a great place to do charity and find people who really care about others suffering. I have long been planning to give part of my earnings from crypto currency to treatment of sick children with cancer. I was inspired by the actor Konstantin Khabensky who gives all his fees from acting for the treatment of children with oncological brain diseases.
You're doing a great job, inducing people to think about those who need our help.

I’d love to participate. I can afford up to one meal a day but I know so many people that can’t and don’t have access to steemit. I know someone that can’t afford to pay her hostel accommodation bills so she sleeps in the classroom under the guise of reading alt night . thank demarth for your great efford!The problem with charity organizations coming to help the poor in poor countries is that they tend to teach the people how to eat fish and not how to fish. The problem become complex as they bring the fish from abroad ignoring the local fisherman who already new how to fish instead how supporting the fisherman to teach more people how to fish. In a short while even the fisherman who can no longer sell his fish as the population now depend on the little manna dropped by charity organizations. So the fishermen also foil their ship and join the queue. A long term solution would be finding program and platform to engage the community to farm and instead of bringing expert from abroad, they should partner with the locals who were already in the field. This is the shortsightedness of charity organizations.

totally agree with your opinion @ damarth.I'm very glad to have joined in steemit, because with us playing in steemit, our knowledge is more widespread and steemit can also make us some money, so we can give little money to help the poor. so the poor can feel and enjoy food like us

This issue of one meal a day reminded me of a patient I had here on Nigeria. A 14 year old kid who had cancer, unlike some other countries where health insurance covers treatment to an extent, things a vastly different here. During one of his long stays, his father left him in the hospital for about 4-5 days without money, without food, without telling anyone to take care of him. I did the best I could to help him with some money for food and made sure he was okay. Sometime later when I finished my pediatric oncology rotation, the kid died. It hit me hard because there are lots of little kids in similar situations. Not just the cancer part but not even a little meal to sustain them. One of my passions have always been to help people. Which is why I'm a doctor. I try to donate blood for my patients or make sure they get free medications when available But Some days I feel like I don't do enough and I keep striving to get more to help those who need it.
one of my dreams aside research work is to own a nonprofit hospital that would take care of kids especially both medically and in sustainance with free foods as well as in academics. This your idea is wonderful. Unfortunately in these parts, people do not even have access to fairly regular electricity not to talk of computers or smart phones and then internet subscriptions are so damn expensive.

Did you wake up staring at your wardrobe, thinking you don't have enough clothes or that you need to go shopping? And for many of us, it's pretty simple: Get in the car, drive to the nearest mall and buy whatever you wish for. 

There are millions who don't have the same means and yet they make things happen out of sheer determination. 

Close to where I live, just a stone throw...there is a an abandoned house in which these little children live. They can't cater for themselves, they don't work to earn a little income to fend for themselves.

And its very touching that they keep increasing everyday. I myself I keep wondering why it is so. So what i do to help is that, from my own little income. I buy them food, snacks and I also check up on them daily. It's now as if its my responsibility to care for them @darmath please if u can in any way impact on the lives of these street children begging, it would really go a long way. I kno u are very kind. We are all surrounded by needy people who aren't even on steemit. I hope this teaches us not to always be on the receiving end, it's not just about the comments its not just about the upvotes, its not just about you. There's a moral attached to this good deed. Famine is a terrible thing. And like you said we all have a responsibility to end it. I just wish we'd all start taking responsibility sooner than later.

I am willing to participate, I don't have much but every weekend from the stipends I receive from my parents, I use 10% (like my tithe) almost 20 dollars to help two people with food and a couple of provision.. It's a nice thing and I always feel good about it, I just want to say you don't have to have much to make a difference.. Little drops make the ocean

i think we should had a small box like as charity box and everyday from our pocket and from our earning put some in this box and after month we spread it in those people who will needy and in painic and then our income will be spend on the right and best way ...

I can recall how I struggled to survive during my high school days, I could barely sleep because then I my family have financial issues. Then my father business was no longer in sales and so I have to go out to find money for my books , school fees,and feeding . In so doing I engage in my tedious jobs like offloading of goods from truck , arranging of logs of woods and so many I can't really remember. Comparing it to my age it was alarming,and then no body was ready to lend a helping hand, especially in my country Nigeria.
Sir,I must say, the rich are getting richer each day that passes and the poor is nothing to write about. The only way this gap can be bridged ,if rich comes to recognized the humanitarian love in them and lend a helping hand to the poor.

Here in Bangladesh a restaurant name Bogra Akboria Grand Hotel & Restaurant they serve their daily remaining foods to poor people everynight.They are doing this for 100 years.
Bangladesh is a developing country. Standing beside the poor people in Bangladesh are so much fewer.There are two or four people who helps these poor peoples.The founderer of this reastaurant Late Akbor Ali Miah started this at 1918.Before dying he said to his son that it should be continued.

If every rich people are starting this type of social steps our world become very nice.

Wow! This is really a great idea. It's really painful when I see people around me not living a convenient and comfortable life. Sometimes when I give to them,they expect more which doesn't make me happy sometimes when I don't have to give. I'm happy for this great idea and I know with this I can set them up with little business according to what they can do. I was hone this Christmas at my parent's place and attended their church , then I discovered the children there are not well taught due to the not up-to-standard schools they are attending

I took it up on myself to teach them basic english language, reading and constructing of sentences.

They are doing well now and I get to check on them once in a while.

This is a very good initiative, a meal a day for kids. I would like to share an idea I am working on and would want other steemians to get involved. I am a sustainable tourism evangelist and I would love if steemians sponso less privilaged kids around them to parks and other tourist attractions. Let this kids know that there is a better side of life than just the streets or rooms.

I would like to commend this generous offer you are giving us, because not everyone that has, really care about the indigent.
I live in a not so poor community in Nigeria, but after a recent outbreak of lassa fever in the area, good food has been had to come by.
Me and my friends take out some week days once in a while to share some food that are contributed from other communities. The food is never enough though and we only wish we could do more to alleviate the sufferings of these affected individuals.

but i am fighiting for those who dont have money i am trying to do something i donate 20 parcent of my earning to poor people here in Pakistan there are a lot of people who dont have cloths and who dont have meal they are bagging for meal not for money so far for them i need your help i can do it alone but that will take time and i cant do it my power is so down and i dont have enough power to gat upvotes and earn money so cn make there life batter they can eat good and be healthy i love humanity and belive in the concept of global village this world is for all of us no poor no rich we are equal am a student so i cant relly do much just steemit it the only way of earning for me ... cose i work at shop and then i go to my collage its difficult for me do manage all these thing i ccan gat help that will be kind of you thanks for posting this

if we do not love the common man in the street, no matter how much love we preach, we have no love. The wealth of the whole world can take every poor person out of the street, touching lives should not be kept for the rich only, it's for humanity, I love doing it, it gives hope to humanity.

My cousin Terek married his chilhood friend Ishita in last november.Ishita is a social worker.She works for a famous social authority named 'BRAC'.Ishita wants that in their wedding no family members,relatives and neighbour are not invited.In their wedding reception they serve food to more than 300 poor people.In our world this type of human like Ishita are alive.
It was a great oppurtunity for me to part of this event.If every people in our world take steps like Ishita it is very good for our world.

Walking on the street some days ago, i met a frail-looking 3yr old boy, who I couldn't help falling in love with

He looked so weak and couldn't even force a smile.

I met his mother (who's picture is not post for anonymity) who also looked sick. She them told me they were both HIV positive. My heart bled😢 on hearing that. Although I didn't have any money on me that day. I made sure to spend half an hour with the family laughing and taking lots of pictures.
I'd love to do more for these people. I introduced steemit to them but, they can't even afford three-square-meals, not to talk of phones or internet services. That's something I hope to change soon, with your support and the support of steemit community.

This post has already gotten 800 view but 200+ comments I like the sincerity of steemians. Well sir @damarth I have a foundation called good sent foundation in my community they support feeding once a week to the less privileged and I use to work with he foundation not until I knew about steemit I think these people needs support and we can have one Saturday for steemit and post it to others for them to be able to support its a start tho. But its a very good idea it could be once a Month before moving on to once a week

Another story featured by sir @damarth that touches most of steemians and I am one of those hundreds of steemians touch by the story of @langford.

I am not going to post my one meal a day because with God's grace I havent tried eating 1 meal in a day and I thanks God for that. I also thank #steemit for adding source of income and for the technology because without it its impossible for us to be here.

All I want is to help other people in our society and this mother of 5 children, suffers an illness without findings what kind of disease it is according to medical doctor. Her story touched my heart so much, she is a mother of 5 children her husband is a Fisherman who earns not fixed income daily sometimes he earn 100 philippine peso or $2.00 USD, the whole night fishing so sad.

She is Mrs. Guadalupe Simbajon, also has an especial child son. Sometimes the family can't eat meal 3 times a day. The reason why i posted a blog about her story 7 days ago to gather help for her. But sad to say the blog post earned few SBD amounting to 4.9$ i feel so sad but nothing i can do about it because we cant force people to help thru upvotes.

I dont regret posting it because in my heart i did my best to share her story thinking that maybe someone with good heart will see and read her story and possible to help her situation.

This post is dedicated to her! I been helping her but its not enough because i am not that fortunate enough to help her. I wish to be a millionaire to help her more especially the medication.

Sorry, I don't have any proof like picture or organization as of now but planning to have soon, just want to share this human activity that my family has every year at the time of celebrating Christmas.

From your post, I remember my father how he prepares a meal for every street children and his story. Every 25th of the December my father provide one meal ( rice, vegetable dish/fried chicken, and juice). My family doing this 2 years already and we are planning to make it also for my father's birthday. Simple activity and yet helps a lot the more families that in the stage of famine. We are not that rich but we love to help for what we can afford.

My father

ACcording to my father story about his life when they were kids. His father left them with his 3 brothers and his mother. He was in Grade school that time. He stops for his study in Grade school and starts to work to help his mother to raise her little brothers. They have one meal only for one day. At the age of 9 old, my father's mother died. In that time my father and his three brothers stay with his another relative and he works for their food, they didn't receive money and him asking also for a food of his 3 brothers.

ONE MEAL A DAY

In my father's story since then, he has a motto of even he doesn't have a big amount of money atleast he will work for us to give and support us for a complete meal for a day! But still, my father has a big heart with high dreams for everyone of us. That's why he achieved whatever he has now. :) and whatever we have now.

That's the reason also why my father has a heart of every child who suffering from famine. And helps as he can, not all of them but a lot of them.

I've worked as a volunteer in India for many years in the past so I have seen first handed great poverty. It really is overwelming.

Back in the U.S. there is also poverty. I've done a few things to help here. Donated to various charities like "Warm the Children" where new, winter clothes are purchased for children in need.

Also some random acts of kindness.....I always keep some granola bars in my car for a snack in case I get hungry. I passed an older homeless woman begging and noticed that no one was giving her anything. I got out of my car and gave her a granola bar, not knowing how she would like it as compared to her wanting some dollar bills. Well, she literally lit up and immediately started eating the bar. So I went inside the store and also bought her a cup of coffee. She was very happy and it also made my day! It feels good to give.

There's no reason for us to be selfish to other people, it is a great feeling to share to someone and to help other people because giving is one of the essence of life. We should share to less fortunate people, and we need to think the we are lucky and blessed by our creator so why not share it to other people?

In our country a lot of less fortunate families who eat once daily and they need our help. The photo above is one of example of a home of less fortunate neighbor that we want to help this time and the reason together with my husband we share the story of this family so that people will see and read the story and starting sharing some of their blessings.

The problem is how they have Mobile and so on to access steemit while for everyday meals they are difficult especially to buy Mobile and so on. Therefore, it takes the steemit communities or private individuals of great-minded stemians to help assist those in distress who even eat once a day is difficult. And I hope the people who make up big in steemit do not mind to set aside some of their income to help those who live in distress.

@Damarth Generosity grows on the basis of life experience and the great sense of humanity among people. Being a benefactor is not easy, especially if we ourselves also need. Even so the word demawan motivation will remind you of the meaning it is important to be generous because that is where a person is being tested how strong he cares about others. :)

Never think that being generous will reduce the amount of treasure you have collected on a hard-won basis. Remember that in this world we can not live alone because we will all need each other. Do not ever underestimate others because kekurangnnya, because one day we will also need someone else to do something that our shortcomings. :)

Indeed with such ideas we will not be able to remove hunger from this world, but at least we can reduce their suffering a little. In my opinion, there's nothing as fulfiling as meeting a need, so I try to do so in the little ways I can.
I didn't grow up a very privileged child, so I have tasted first hand what it feels like to have nothing or less than nothing.
Annually, my family picks a day to visit an orphanage to give them food and clothing.
In fellowship occasionally we take food to hospitals, prisons(if we're permitted) or schools.
Sometimes we organize a food fair for the benefit of as many people as we can afford.

It is so beautiful to know that there are people who are so interested in the welfare of others. Thank you so much for this initiative @damarth

This happened to a friend of mine, she's in final year of his programe at college, and she's going to write her final exam in 3weeks time, but unfortunately she haven't paid his fee for the year, and she won't be allow to write exam if she didn't pay before the exams wil start, she open up to me about 2week ago, I don't have much on my account also, so I can't give all, but I give her part of it and promise her that I wil try and seek help and add something to it before they wil being exam, so plz anything u can render will be appreciate thanks @damarth

Myself and my family have seen really hard times, but we're in a better place now.
So every year, we visit at least one orphanage and we take food, clothing, toiletries and money to them. I couldn't go last year because I was seriously sick for a couple of months, but I'm OK now, and we're already making plans to continue the tradition.
People are suffering so much in this world. I've seen bad cases around me here. I'm so glad that there are people who take it upon themselves to make the world a better place in their own little way. I just hope all intentions here are completely genuine and devoid of greed...

The photos were taken during our food hygiene and health awareness campaign to the St Mary's Senior Science College, Abak which is an overpopulated boarding school in a small rural community of Akwa Ibom State , Nigeria.
It was the world malaria day ,Aril 25, 2016.
We sensitized them on how to control and prevent malaria epidemic.
We organized quiz and debate competitions and gave out prices.
We gave out food stuffs, mosquito treated nets and clothing to all the students and even those in the Abak community.
Currently epidemiologic statistics proves a decline in both morbidity and mortality rate of malaria infection and typhoid fever after this major outreach led by our team of Akwa Ibom Medical Students.

I must commend you for this movement.

Putting food on the table for the poor is a great joy, big thanks to @damarth. You always have a way of putting smile on people's face. Before I came on Steemit some weeks ago I was struggling to take care of myself but now at least I can afford a meal a day.
Since I have come to Steemit, with the little I have I can buy my own meal, but I could like to help this poor little children around me. Some of them comes to school with empty stomach, torn out clothes, unkempt hair. If wish to help them and with my stay here on Steemit, I'll help them in every small way I can.

When I was a teacher, I use to frown at fellow teachers who beat children who came to school without brushing their mouth. I think we as teachers should show small love by buying tooth brush and tooth paste to those children and see if they will still come to school without brushing. This little act of kindness will make the world go round. Thank you @damarth

The people that needs our help sir, are in no way here on Steemit, not at all, they are out there.
I as an individual believe so much in volunteerism and after graduation last year from the department of biochemistry, I joined different programs that are involved in volunteerism.
Yesterday aur-clinic outreach,(ACOF) did an awareness campaign on cancer in a secondary, community and trust me, the students were so much delighted with what they heard.
Am yet to write in details.

Also, I was asking, not asking begging a curator in my country to resteem my post so alot of people can see it and might get interested but nothing, only a friend I met on discord did so for me.
What a world.

In essence, I am set 100% to go anywhere anytime to help people out there.
Poverty is not in Steemit, Steemit platform has given so many people opportunity to wealth.
Those in needs are out there, yes they are and they need help.

Growing up in a middle class home in Denmark with a good income, I've never known poverty or lack of material goods in any ways and can't really claim to have lived a tough life in such ways. My world shattered though when my parents went their separate ways when I was 5 because my mother had found us a new stepdad, and here almost 30 years after I'm still picking up pieces.
My stepdad was a narcissist with many psychopathic tendencies and through a combination of mental and physical fear he ruled our little family. In many years I had a hard time communicating with anyone without it being horribly awkward until I started playing World of Warcraft in 2010. The sensation of having a friendly online platform, in the shape of my guild, where I could communicate indirect with people, getting my point across without stumbling halfway through and actually feel relevant, was amazing.
I'm now a relatively normal functioning socially human being (though I'll never learn to small talk) but still very much appreciate platforms like steemit. The way steemit and similar platforms allow us to communicate freely, no matter who we are, how anonymous we'd like to be and what we have to offer is, at worst, still awesome and at the best a possible lifeline for individuals like past me.

The prospect of being able to safely store all these testimonies, legacies, stories and thoughts uttered each day here I hope will be of great value to the coming generations, both so they can learn more about us but also so they can learn from us.

This is really great, it good to help the needy.. You dont have to have billions of naira before yu start helping out.. I do also, there are some street kids here at ado ekiti nigeria 🇳🇬 . Some are homeless.. Am still a student tho! Out of the little token am been given at home i still have to give these great kids..
I even have one of them a five year old boy, his parent are both deaf and dumb but the amazing part is that the boy can talk, it has not been that easy for both parents and even the child. But i my part in helping the family.

There's good values! Hopefully Karma will do its work on it. If this can influence others, locally here we have created a breakfast club for ours kids school. It all under a benevola basis and all the kids that joined are very satisfied. Getting up in the morning before work is not easy, but it is like a chain reaction: my son goes to help out by his own now and his friends sometimes goes to join him (so some parents can take some breaks!). Besides all the work, we all pinched in a small amount every year and it goes a loooong way :-) I wish you all the best, , that tour influence will make a difference (and I believe you already did).

This is not to get a 'one meal a day' upvote, we live in Canada and there is no comparaisons with third world countries. Is it to show my gratitude for your actions and to maybe show others how a 75 $ a year can turn into about 200 breakfasts a year for a kid when parents works together.

I am a public school teacher in the Philippines and there are so many cases of malnutrition among our students. The culprit -- poverty and lack of opprtunities to earn. In our school, we initiated a feeding program for all students who are malnurished. We always look for stakeholders and sponsorship to support this program. At the moment we have around 80 students whom we feed everyday, and the number is growing. Although many politicians have already pledged to help, we are not closing our doors for other sponsorships, especially from my fellow Steemians.

It is so generous of you. Thank God there is Steemit. With its limitless possibilities, with his endless kindness. It gives a chance to thousands of people do have the opportunity to live, to feed their children, get an education. In Russia, where I live, a quarter of the population is below the poverty line( according to official data less, in fact, many people can not even eat a full). Steemit give my countrymen the chance to improve their lives. To have an income that can be saved in a "rainy day". But now our government is thinking about how to ban blockchain. That would be awful. So now the status of the blockchain in my country is not entirely clear. But I really hope that we can continue our work on the Steemit.

I truly value your effort but if people can't afford one meal a day, how do we expect them to have acces to internet and furthermore a steemit account. As I said I really appreciate what you're doing and think it's barbaric some people aren't even able to afford basic human needs but I think if a service like this would be offered it'd only be used by greedy people who want more money/steem power.

I have more than a meal a day but there are many around me who don't get the chance to have 1, I really have the desire to give the little I have to those who do not have access to the internet or to steemit or to an Android phone, please for the people I'll need help, be starting a campaign soonest called save a life. This post made me recall the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations wherein they are doing every way possible in order to solve those issues humans are suffering for decades now.

Their target is to make a change for everyone and live a better life in the year 2030.

If we noticed the first four goals refers to poverty, hunger, good health and well-being and lack of education.

I believe one of the major reasons why people remains poor is the lack of education. When we are educated we can always find good paying job that could address the financial needs of the family.

I may not experience a one day meal in my lifetime but my family did experienced having difficulty in buying for food because there was no more money.

I remember when we get the chance to loan a 1 sack of rice, my parents used to divide it to the rest of their married children and those people who are dependent to them.

That is why I appreciate them for having a big heart, that even in hardships they still think of the welfare other people.

Another, I considered funny thing that I could think in order to eradicate poverty is for the rich to share part of their wealth to the least of their brothers and sisters.

They may be outdone certainly in number by those people who are in poverty line but if all of them will share, perhaps such action could at least curtail the percentage of those who are suffering and dying of hunger by a considerable number.

Funny but I wish I am rich so I could help in a maximum level.

My country was one of those poor countries in the world where there are many unfortunate people. I also belong to a poor family in the Philippines but my grandparents and I can eat three times a day, I grow up with them and they are both jobless. My mother was our main source of all of what we eat every day. She gives us our daily needs in all her might. I love my grandparents so much, that is why my heart also aches when I see old people walking in streets asking for alms.

Whenever I encountered one, it feels like my heart was broken into pieces that my system wanted to have a little chitchat with them and give whatever I have in my pocket or if I have something to eat.
I have encountered one that made my tears flow not even noticing it. I saw an old man walking back and forth with his walking cane and a pair of sleepers that has a hole on the end. I look at him, he seems so hungry and thirsty, his face is as pale as the dead are! I can’t resist looking at him that way I have a money but it was just enough to buy my school requirements and pay my ride back home, but the willingness to buy food for the old man wins (in my mind I will just take a walk back home.)
I gave the bread and water to him. With a big curve in his face, he grabs it and eats fast as he could.(he was very hungry)

I was able to ask him about his life, the saddest fact he said to me was his children abandoned him and he had no contacts with them, that’s why he lived alone and walk along the hot streets to ask for money to feed his hungry stomach. He can’t even afford to eat thrice in a day.

Looking at that man made me cry, how would his children feel seeing their father like that? How could they eat 3 times a day and their father don’t have anything to feed in his hungry stomach, not unless someone pities him and give him food that he could eat once in a day?

His big “Salamat anak” in English means “Thank you my child” make me feel so happy coz in that little way I was able to bring a smile on that hungry old man and help him in my little way. I walked back home with a big smile on my face.

I'm more than willing to support this, it's so incredible to see so many community centered projects coming out of Steemit. I'm not just talking about local community either, I mean the kind of community where there are no physical barriers. Steemit connects people all over the world and their projects (ones like this) include everyone, even people who have no knowledge at all of Steem or Cryptocurrency.

What I love most about Steemit is the way that everyone has the potential to pay it forward the best way they are able. Whether that's using their location and Steemit to improve their own way of life and bring up the communities around them, or using knowledge shared willingly to bring other Steemit users up. I, as with many other Steemians, am fortunate enough to live in a country where we have an incredible amount of privileges compared to many other ways of life. That said, like the rest of the world the divide between rich and poor is still very real, with housing becoming more and more of an issue. The problem I see is that across the world, in rich nations and poor, the rich are controlling property and profiting off those who cannot afford to own their own home. This increased stress reduces the chances of those tennants ever being able to save for a house of their own, all the while the 1% continue lining their pockets.

We're on the cusp of a huge redistribution of the worlds wealth, potentially empowering the 99%, or at least a higher percentage than are empowered now. What's more that empowerment isn't coming from privilege or unearned power. I truly believe that the people who are rising up through Crypto and Steemit will have not only the power, but the willingness to improve the lives of others as much as they want to improve their own lives!

One meal a day is indeed great initiative thanks @demarth for bringing this up my heart bleed each time i see children starving although am still struggling my self but with initiative i realise i don't have to get so much before i can reach out to people. At times i wonder if there are no social workers in this country nigeria with the rate at which children and adult are wondering around begging for arms. our government sign budget every year to fight terrorism don't they know that those terrors were once on the street before they get there minds polluted by some evil personalities the bible says am idle man is devils workshop. But i believe this initiative will eradicate some unforseen calamity. I stand for one meal per day. More strenght @damarth

Regards Regards to all, from the entrance to the community to Steemit I thought it was the country where I come from (Venezuela) who was in a social crisis, in the absence of food, education and quality medical assistance, but I have seen under several testimonies that many countries are under the same condition.

Sad to see how humanity is self-destructing.

I want to say a bigger thank you @damarth for making suggestion on how to improve mankind. Although i never came from a weathy home, and i did not know my father. My mum told me, when i was 4 months old my father ran away, cause he had no money,nothing to cater for our needs. My mother was a road line trader, who sells tomatoes and pepper, she would carry me on her back and been selling her tomatoes and pepper. one faithful day my mother wooden caraven where she sells her tomatoes was destroyed by the government, due to she was selling at the road side, this was her only source she did raise money for our needs, She was not even given another alternative of how she will earn money. Every night my mother cries and and had no money to pay for an accomdation the landlord we come and play his part....so she took me and her self and went be living infront of the church, also sleeping there with others like her hopping for manner to fall on her...but am greatful today, everything is a little better and also i pray to meet my dad some day. when i walk pass the front of the church where i and my mother laid when i was a baby, i look at the sky and i believe there is hope.(cause i was once like them)...so am actually suggesting if we steemians can come together and raise fund for those homeless mothers and children out there atleast rent an appartment annually for them, to make them feel there is still HOPE that STEEMIT loves and cares about them.

I can afford a meal a day, what I cannot afford is enough cash to help me realise my dreams. While it's great that you're willing to help provide a meal, I do not enjoy being a dependant. What I will really appreciate is assistance to have self reliance .

I'm a final year student of English and I also hold a certificate in Business Analysis
my dream is to build a consulting firm with specialty in advertisement, program management and capacity building. so far, I can barely feed myself as I would want to because I'm making sacrifices.

I've tried a lot of ventures from running a problem t magazine to hosting a bulk SMS website with my own share of failures. I've learnt a lot and I'm convinced I can do better this time

I was at a talk during the week about Blockchain and it amazes me how people still introduce it as a payment mechanism and describe bitcoin. This initiative is a great example of how blockchain can be used to change people's lives and also is the type of initiative that makes me so eager to support Steem.

Thanks @damarth for bringing this initiative is indeed a great one, we all know how it feels after ending a particular day without food and is not that we are fasting this is exactly what this people are facing. Just like an adage that says a hungry man is an angry man. Food is essential to man kind. My heart aches when I See people on the street most especially a children begging for arms. Have always desire to help but am always thinking that I don't have much but with this initiative have gotten to know that I don't have to get much before I can reach to people, my little help will go a long way. Talk of our government passing budget every year to fight terrorism I feel there are lot more to be done before that can be totally eradicated, this children on the street are been use for all sought of evil works due to their vulnerability and they ended up given in to this due to the fact that they don't have any choice because in the first instance they feel rejected by family and society. And their mind will be polluted by this evil perpetrators to use the situated as a medium to fight back. Social works fails to do there work, terrorist will keep increasing if this children on the street are not been taking care and sent to school to become a better person in life. This is a story of minr where by daily we do suffer the grieve to survive.
Nigeria is my country but filled up with crazy leaders which they embezzle money anyhow this situation keep getting worse and we the citizen don't know what to do it affected the citizen so every one started eating once daily cause it caused a bad thing to us that one daily food isn't okay

THE ONE MEAL A DAY initiative is a very good one but personally, excluding health care I don't think any steemian will sincerely agree to the fact he/she can't afford a meal because as an active steemian,it means you have access to a smartphone or a PC and also access to internet services. And common sense will place priority to food than internet service. Truly,there are dark times in life where it seems everything is just going wrong, I know this because have been there.

So damarth in my opinion, the real people that need the one meal per day are in the streets begging for it. As steemians, we should help those who really need the meals. I recently made a post about my mandate to help people with a percentage I get from a particular community and a real life situation of two boys that prompted me into action for charity. As I reply this post, I am listening to Silence by Marshmello ft Khalid and my heart ache for the needy

Someone told me that "greed is the engine of the world" which is true but bad. The richer getting richer and poor getting poorer. What if we had a world free from greed, we might not know what war and disaster is. We should be the change we want to see in our world. I am not saying, we should give all our money out because am only a minnow and earn a little but we all have a needy neighbour.

Damarth you are a true gem for coming up with this idea.
I'm a student and to be truthful I was able to complete my last fee payment from money I earned here on steemit but with reduced upvote I hardly even have enough to do anything.
There are a lot like me here that depends mainly on steemit as a source of livelihood or as a source to help the poor with income generated here...

Giving out one meal a day is good, I have experienced the joy of having to get one good meal a day when I wasn't sure where the next meal will come from, but that's only a temporary solution, when we can move to human empowerment then we can have a better life.

thank you @damarth for providing such a platform to reach out to the needy and the poor who have been ravaged by huger famine, poverty e.t.c and are in dire need if our help. i am also involved in these charity movement and am also involved in reaching out to the needy as i try to get involved in various charity organizations and donations. from giving to orphanage homes to help the poor and needy on our streets in my own little way. like the last time, i went to a place in my town called ring road in benin city, on my way i came across some needy persons (beggars) on the streets. i was moved by compassion, i tried to help by dipping my hands into my pockets to render some financial assistance to these needy ones. as i gave my own little to them, more needy persons(beggars) came rushing to me seeking for assistance. i was moved to tears as they came towards me. some where kids as little as five, the adults some were blind, some handicapped unable to fend or help themselves. i would love to go back and render more assistance to more if not all the needy. so any assistance towards my course with be great and much appreciated at least so that they can have at least one meal a day. thanks.

This is myself when we went to share clothes and shoes for beggars.

I think they haven't internet access from where they live. I am very sad and concerned when reading this langford article. stay away from societies that deserve internet access to gain insight into daily knowledge and creativity. Hopefully in one day, they may get more attention in the form of food, medicine, sanitation of clean water, supplies and facilities are very adequate.

I want to share with you.mister @damarth, because the need that I really need kan.karena my parents again sick.I live with my parents who are old and again ill, my mother has died since my childhood living with father I am now 80 years old. We are tiggal in the interior, living in poverty, now my parents are old and sick, I have to try to finance my parents, the cost of drugs. I do not want to be children who are not godly. in my steemit newcomer with all the shortcomings, I have to work hard, apologize already vent @damarth you are a very generous and kind person.

I really appreciate the work @damarth. I was also impressed and moved by the glory of his heart.
