Summer Sokolets
Last summer I became a huge fan of mushrooms - a friend of mine showed me several safe types and not only their taste is amazing when you gather them fresh from the mountains and cook them immediately after that, but also looking for them in the forest is very catching - once you start, you just can’t stop, it is kind of addictive - it is not even that much about their taste . This year the mushrooms were a little bit late and before finding even the first one of my favourites, if I calculate the kilometres from every time I went to check for them, I think I walked around the forests more than 100km. Another thing that I became a fan of last summer is Sokolets Peak in Rila Mountains. Hiking to it is great - not very long, around 3 hours to the top, very very infamous - I’ve never met anyone there and with a stunning view from it. I’ve heard that the forests around the pathway before the peak are a great place for porcini mushrooms, so a while ago I decided to check them. My plan at first was not to go all the way to the top, but to walk around the forests but as there was not even one mushroom anywhere I went there to let the view heal my disappointment 😃.
So instead of porchini, I filled my bag with this amazing thyme that you can see on the photos and instead of eating mushrooms, I fed my soul with these amazing sights :) Not bad at all!

Thanks for constantly reminding me how Bulgaria is much more than just crowded beaches and Sofia (that´s what many people in my homeland think, unfortunately). Stunning natural shots as always Daniela. Great job :)
Btw cannot wait to go mushroom hunting in my secret places once I get back home :) Definitely one my favorite outdoor activities.

Too bad there was not even a single mushrooms ! But those shrooms do come in seasons only, don't they? But the views! They are spectacular, and your photos captured the beauty so wonderfully that I feel better even as I view them from my office desk... That’s really sad for them that they don’t know what they have and how lucky they are to be born here. But I guess it is easier to see only the negative part. Which part of Bulgaria are you from?

Thank you very much! Glad you like it :) The view really compensated for the mushrooms :) They were a little bit late this year, but 2 weeks after that hike, finally we found some ;)
