Why do these social platforms work as well as they do?
From a scientific point of view, getting a ‘like’ on your latest post triggers the same chemical reaction in your brain as if you’d take drugs, drink alcohol or smoke a cigarette. All of these actions release dopamine, aka the happiness chemical, which in return gets you addicted to the feeling and keeps you coming back for more.
When people say this generation is addicted to social, they’re actually scientifically not far off. Be aware of your body’s chemistry, how it is being triggered and make educated decisions on what you actually want to be spending your time on.
